Chair Assembly in Warsaw — Office, Bar, Dining, IKEA

Ordered a set of dining chairs and found a bag of bolts, wooden dowels, and a tiny-print manual inside the box? Or an office chair with a gas lift, tilt mechanism, and armrests that just won’t click into place? Assembling one chair is no big deal, but when there are four to six of them it’s half a day’s work. And if something is tightened wrong, everything starts creaking and wobbling within a month. We assemble chairs across all of Warsaw: we bring our own tools, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and test every chair before handing it over. Need it done quickly and without the hassle? Give us a call.

How much does chair assembly cost and what affects the price

The cost depends on the chair type and quantity. A simple wooden chair with dowels and bolts is one thing. An office chair with a gas lift, tilt mechanism, adjustable armrests, and headrest is something else entirely. A bar stool with a swivel base and footrest is yet another story. Factors that affect the price: construction type (frame-based, gas-lift, folding), the number of units in the order (a batch of dining chairs costs less per piece), and whether post-assembly adjustment is needed. Fixings included with the furniture are covered in the price. See current prices in the table below.

How the on-site chair assembly works

  1. You send photos of the boxes or the model name — the technician estimates the scope and gives you an approximate timeframe. For a batch of 6 chairs this is usually 1.5 to 2 hours.
  2. We agree on a date. We usually arrive the same day or the next, depending on the schedule.
  3. The technician comes with his own tools: cordless drill, hex key set, open-end spanners, hammer, and spirit level.
  4. We unpack the boxes and check the contents of each chair kit. If anything is missing, we document it immediately and photograph it for a warranty claim.
  5. Chairs are assembled one by one. For office chairs: we fit the star base with castors, insert the gas lift, attach the tilt mechanism, mount the seat, and install the armrests and headrest.
  6. For wooden or dining chairs: we connect the legs to the rails using dowels and bolts, tighten in a cross pattern, and check stability on a flat surface.
  7. Every chair is tested: no play, no wobble, no creaking. We adjust the height, backrest angle, and tilt tension. Packaging is cleared away.

Common mistakes when assembling chairs yourself

  • Tightening dining-chair bolts sequentially instead of in a cross pattern — the legs seat unevenly and the chair wobbles. The right way: finger-tighten all bolts first, then torque them in a cross pattern.
  • Hammering the gas lift into the star base — this can damage the piston rod or the plastic sleeve. The gas lift should slide in with light resistance and fully seats under body weight.
  • Mixing up the left and right armrests on an office chair — the mounting holes don’t line up, so people start drilling into the plastic. Result: play and a cracked part.
  • Not checking completeness before starting — you discover a missing bolt on the third chair while two are already assembled and you don’t want to take them apart.
  • Skipping washers and spring washers — within a couple of months the bolts loosen from vibration and the chair starts creaking.
  • Assembling a bar stool without locking the footrest — it relies on friction alone and starts spinning after a week.
  • Driving in wooden dowels without glue — the joint loosens over time, especially if the chair is dragged across the floor daily.
  • Setting an office chair to maximum gas-lift height without testing — the tilt mechanism hits the star base when you lean back.

What to prepare before the technician arrives

  • Make sure the chair boxes are inside the apartment (carrying them upstairs is a separate service).
  • Clear a work area — for a batch of 4 to 6 chairs you need roughly 2 x 3 metres.
  • Check the number of boxes against the delivery note — it happens that one goes missing in transit.
  • If you ordered chairs from different batches, sort the boxes by model.
  • Decide where the chairs will go — moving them around the flat afterwards is not included in the price.
  • Remove rugs from the assembly area — small hardware and bolts vanish in the pile.
  • Keep pets in another room — castors, tiny bolts, and springs are irresistible to cats.
  • Provide the intercom code and parking information.
  • If there are more than 6 chairs, let us know in advance so the technician can allocate extra time.
  • For office chairs with a headrest, check your desk height to ensure the chair fits ergonomically.

A real case from Warsaw

A client in the Ursynow district ordered assembly of 8 IKEA EKEDALEN dining chairs and two MARKUS office chairs for a home office. The chairs arrived in four boxes, the office chairs in two. We started with an inventory check: one box was missing its bolt bag — we documented it and the client filed a warranty claim. The remaining 7 chairs were complete. The dining chairs were assembled in a production-line style: first all rail-to-leg joints, then all seats, then the final cross-pattern tightening. This is faster than building each chair from start to finish. With the MARKUS chairs there was a nuance: the gas lift needs to be seated correctly in the star base — not hammered in, but pressed with leverage against the floor. The armrests on this model are height-adjustable, so we set them to match the client’s build. We tested the tilt mechanism and dialled in the resistance. All 7 chairs and 2 office chairs took about 2.5 hours. The eighth chair was finished three days later once the replacement bolts arrived.

Frequently asked questions

What chairs do you assemble?
All types: office chairs (gas lift, tilt mechanism, armrests), bar stools with swivel and footrest, wooden and upholstered dining chairs, IKEA, Jysk, BRW, Agata, and furniture from Allegro. The approach is always the same — manufacturer’s instructions and the correct fixings.

Is a batch cheaper per unit?
Yes. Assembling 6 identical chairs takes less time than 6 different ones, so the per-chair price is lower. Ask when you book.

What is included in the price?
The technician’s labour and tools, plus all fixings that come with the chairs. Carrying boxes upstairs and waste removal are charged separately.

How long does assembly take?
One dining chair — 15 to 20 minutes. An office chair — 20 to 40 minutes depending on the model. A batch of 4 to 6 dining chairs — about an hour.

My office chair’s mechanism creaks — can you fix it?
If the issue is improper assembly, we will tighten and adjust it. If parts are worn, we will assess it on site and let you know what can be done.

Can you assemble a chair from second-hand parts?
If all parts are present and the fixings are undamaged — yes. If threads are stripped or holes are bored out, we will let you know straight away so you don’t waste your time.

Do you work on weekends?
Yes, Saturdays and Sundays are regular working days for us. Book in advance — weekends are always busy.

What if a part is defective?
We document the issue with photos. You contact the retailer for a replacement. Once the new part arrives, we come back and finish the job.

Who does the work and how we operate

Assembly is handled by technicians experienced in furniture — from simple stools to fully adjustable gaming chairs. They know the difference between a class 3 and a class 4 gas lift, and why a bar stool needs a locking screw. We cover all of Warsaw and surrounding areas: Mokotow, Ursynow, Wola, Bemowo, Praga — we arrive at the agreed time. To book an assembly, call or message us and we will reply within an hour.
