Glass-Ceramic Surface Replacement for Electric Cooktop in Warsaw

Has the glass-ceramic surface cracked, chipped or developed a spider web pattern? Using a cooktop with damaged glass is dangerous — moisture can reach the heating elements through cracks, risking a short circuit. The crack also expands over time from thermal cycling. We replace glass-ceramic surfaces on site across Warsaw — sourcing original or compatible glass for your model.

How much does it cost

The cost depends on the cooktop size, glass availability and model. The glass is the most expensive component, so sometimes replacement approaches the cost of a new cooktop. The technician will assess value on site. Prices in the table.

  3. We switch off the breaker.
  4. The cooktop is removed and the damaged glass carefully separated from the frame.
  5. The frame is cleaned and new heat-resistant sealant applied.
  6. The new glass is fitted, pressed and secured.
  7. The cooktop is refitted and all zones tested.

Common mistakes

  • Cooking on a cracked surface — short-circuit and shock risk.
  • Ordering glass by ruler measurements — exact model number needed.
  • Trying to glue the crack — no adhesive withstands the temperature.
  • Fitting regular glass instead of glass-ceramic — it will shatter.
  • Dropping heavy cookware — the main cause.
  • Placing hot pans on a cold zone — thermal shock.

What to prepare

  • Exact cooktop model.
  • Photo of the damage.
  • Do not use the cooktop!
  • Switch off the breaker.
  • Clear the worktop.
  • Confirm the cooktop can be removed.
  • Collect fragments if any.
  • Space for work next to the worktop.

A real case from Warsaw

A client in Wola dropped a cast-iron skillet on a Siemens cooktop — the glass cracked from centre to edge. The cooktop was 4 years old with working electronics and burners. We ordered genuine glass (arrived in 5 days), removed the cooktop, separated the old glass, cleaned the frame, applied sealant and fitted the new glass. All zones working. On-site work took about 1.5 hours. The client saved significantly compared to buying a new cooktop. Tip: never place heavy cast iron edgewise on glass-ceramic.
