Household Malfunction Repair in Warsaw — Leaky Tap, Broken Handle, Squeaky Door

A dripping tap, a door handle that wobbles, a squeaky door, a broken light switch — these little annoyances pile up and chip away at your comfort. Each one seems too small to call a technician for, but when five or seven of them accumulate, it makes more sense to book one visit and sort them all out at once. We work across all of Warsaw: Ochota, Targowek, Bialoleka — arriving with a standard toolkit and consumables for typical household tasks.

Household repair pricing

The price depends on the number and nature of tasks. Replacing a door handle is one price, fixing a leaking Grohe mixer by swapping the cartridge is another. Several small jobs in one call-out work out cheaper than booking them separately. Fixings and basic consumables are included. Spare parts (cartridges, handles, locks) are charged separately when replacement is needed. See current rates in the table.

How the on-site work goes

  1. You put together a list of everything that needs fixing — send photos or descriptions.
  2. The technician assesses the scope: what can be done immediately and what needs parts.
  3. We agree on a visit time — usually same-day or next-day.
  4. On site, the technician goes through your list room by room, clarifying details.
  5. Work is done in order: from quick fixes (tighten, lubricate, swap) to more involved tasks (disassembly, mechanism repair).
  6. If a part is needed that is not on hand, the technician identifies it and suggests where to buy — then returns to install.
  7. Final walkthrough: we check everything together and clean up.

Common DIY mistakes

  • Wrapping a leaking tap with electrical tape instead of replacing the washer or cartridge — the leak returns within a day.
  • Screwing a loose handle back into the old hole — it wobbles again within a week.
  • Lubricating a squeaky door with cooking oil — it attracts dust and the hinge squeaks even more.
  • Replacing a light switch without turning off the circuit breaker — risk of electric shock. Always disconnect power before any electrical work.
  • Attempting to fix a Cersanit cistern without the valve diagram — it comes apart but will not go back together.
  • Using silicone to seal threaded joints instead of PTFE tape — the connection leaks under pressure.

What to prepare before the technician arrives

  • Make a complete list of all issues — do not hesitate to include small things, this is standard practice.
  • For each problem, a brief photo or description (leaky kitchen tap, bedroom door handle, hallway squeak).
  • If the issue involves plumbing — shut off the water or confirm the valves work.
  • Clear access to problem areas: remove items from under the sink, move furniture away from doors.
  • If you have spare parts (a handle you bought, a mixer cartridge) — have them ready.
  • Check that there is a power socket near the work area.
  • If the apartment has a fresh renovation — let the technician know.
  • Provide access details: intercom code, floor number, parking options.
  • If you live in a new build in Wilanow or Bemowo — confirm the lift is working (for heavy tools).

A real case from Warsaw

A client from Ochota had compiled a list of nine small problems that had been building up for over a year: a leaking Omnires kitchen mixer, two squeaky doors, a loose balcony door handle, a broken towel hook in the bathroom, a malfunctioning soft-close on a kitchen cabinet, a cracked socket, a wobbly hallway coat rack, and a sticking cistern button. Our technician arrived with a set of washers, silicone lubricant, an assortment of fixings, and a multimeter. He fixed the mixer by replacing the cartridge, lubricated the doors, remounted the handle using a dowel insert, adjusted the Blum soft-close, and replaced the socket (after switching off the breaker). The cistern button had to be ordered — the client purchased it, and the technician returned to install it in 15 minutes. The first visit took about two and a half hours. Takeaway: when small tasks pile up, it is more efficient to tackle them in one call-out — both in terms of cost and peace of mind.
