Shower Tray Replacement in Warsaw

A shower tray endures daily exposure to water, temperature changes, and physical wear. Over time, cracks develop, enamel chips away, and seals lose their integrity. If left unaddressed, a damaged tray can cause water to seep into the subfloor and damage the building structure beneath. Our technicians replace shower trays across Warsaw — efficiently, cleanly, and with a full waterproofing guarantee. Drop us a message or give us a call, and we will arrange a visit at a time that works for you.

How much does it cost and what affects the price

The cost of shower tray replacement starts from 400 PLN for labour. This covers removal of the old tray, preparation of the base, and installation of the new one. Materials are charged separately — the tray itself, trap, sealant, and waterproofing tape are purchased by the client or ordered through us at retail price. Standard fasteners and consumables are included in the service fee.

The price may increase if the drain point needs to be relocated, a section of waste pipe needs replacing, or the floor requires levelling for the new tray. Disposal of construction waste and the old tray is charged as an extra. The technician will prepare an exact quote after inspecting the site — for a preliminary estimate, simply send us a photo of your bathroom via messenger.

How the work is carried out on site

1. Inspection and assessment. The technician arrives at the property, inspects the shower area, and evaluates the condition of the base, drain, and pipework. A list of required materials is drawn up.

2. Shutting off the water supply. Before work begins, we close the water supply to the shower and drain any remaining water from the pipes.

3. Removing the old tray. We carefully lift out the old tray, disconnect the trap, and remove any remaining sealant and adhesive from the base.

4. Preparing the base. We level the surface and repair the screed if necessary. The gradient is checked to ensure water flows correctly toward the drain point.

5. Installing the new tray. The new tray is fitted onto the prepared base, the trap is connected to the waste pipe, and all joints are checked for tightness.

6. Sealing the joints. All edges where the tray meets the walls are sealed with sanitary silicone. Waterproofing tape is applied in the corners for additional protection.

7. Testing and clean-up. We run a test drain, check every joint for leaks, then clean up the work area and remove all packaging.

Common mistakes clients make (and how to avoid them)

1. Buying a tray without measuring the drain position. The drain hole location varies between models. If you do not measure the exact distance from the wall to the centre of the drain outlet, the plumbing will need reworking. Before purchasing, photograph the underside of the old tray and measure the distance from the wall to the drain centre.

2. Skimping on the trap. A cheap plastic trap lasts two to three years before it starts leaking. Choose models with a stainless-steel grate and a reliable seal — they cost 30–50 PLN more but last three times longer.

3. Ignoring the base gradient. If the base does not slope correctly toward the drain, water will pool in the tray. This leads to mould growth and unpleasant odours.

4. Using general-purpose silicone instead of sanitary grade. Standard silicone does not contain fungicide additives and will develop black mould within months. Always use a dedicated sanitary sealant for bathrooms.

5. No access panel for the trap. Some clients encase the tray in concrete without leaving an inspection hatch. If there is a blockage or leak, it becomes impossible to reach the trap without breaking the structure. Always plan for inspection access.

6. Fitting on an uneven base. A tray on an uneven floor flexes under load, cracks, and loses its seal at the edges. The base must be levelled before installation.

7. Using the shower immediately after installation. Silicone reaches full strength after 24 hours. If you use the shower sooner, the sealant will not cure properly and the joints will start to let water through.

What to prepare before the technician arrives

1. Clear access to the shower area — remove toiletries, towels, and bath mats.

2. Make sure the new tray has been delivered and is inside the flat.

3. Check that you have a new trap compatible with the chosen tray.

4. Purchase sanitary silicone sealant (white or clear — your choice).

5. Have waterproofing tape for corners ready if the technician has recommended it.

6. Know where the water shut-off valve is located in your flat.

7. Provide space for storing the old tray and construction debris.

8. Let your downstairs neighbours know about the planned work — just in case.

9. Have a free power socket available for the technician’s tools.

10. If you have specific preferences regarding height or positioning, discuss them in advance by phone.

A real case from Warsaw

Last month a couple from the Ochota district contacted us about persistent dampness in their bathroom. During inspection, it turned out that the acrylic tray installed seven years ago had cracked along the base. Water had been seeping under the tray and pooling on the concrete substrate. The tiles around the shower zone had begun lifting from the wall due to constant moisture. Our technician removed the old tray and found that the trap also needed replacing — the plastic had become brittle. The base was dried out, the screed repaired, and a layer of liquid waterproofing applied. We installed a new steel enamelled tray measuring 90×90 cm on reinforced legs. A quality dry-seal trap was connected, and all joints were sealed with sanitary silicone. The next day the couple were already using their shower again. Two weeks later we followed up — no leaks whatsoever, and the dampness had completely gone. The entire job took around four and a half hours, including drying time and clean-up.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a shower tray replacement take?
On average the work takes 3–5 hours, depending on the complexity of the removal and the condition of the base. If the screed needs levelling, an additional day may be required for it to dry.

Which tray is better — acrylic or steel?
Steel enamelled trays are stronger and more durable but can be noisy when water hits them. Acrylic trays are warmer to the touch and quieter but less resistant to mechanical damage. We recommend steel models with a sound-deadening underlay.

Do I need to replace the trap when changing the tray?
We strongly recommend replacing the trap at the same time. The old trap may not fit the new tray, and its condition after several years of use is usually far from ideal.

Can I install a tray of a different size?
Yes, but this will require additional work to adjust the base and possibly relocate the drain point. The cost of such work is calculated individually after inspection.

Do you work at weekends?
Yes, we work every day of the week across Warsaw and the surrounding area. Book via messenger or by phone.

What happens if a hidden problem is found during the work?
The technician will contact you immediately, explain the situation, and offer solutions with prices. No work beyond the agreed scope will be carried out without your approval.

Do you provide a guarantee on the work?
Yes, all completed work comes with a guarantee. If a problem arises during the guarantee period due to our workmanship, we will fix it free of charge.

Do I need to buy materials myself?
You can buy materials yourself using the technician’s list, or ask us to deliver everything needed. Material costs are the same either way — at retail price.
