Smoke and CO Detector Installation in Warsaw — Home Safety in One Visit
27.03.2026Smoke and CO Detector Installation in Warsaw — Home Safety in One Visit
A smoke and carbon monoxide detector is not an expensive gadget — it is a mandatory safety device. Since 2023, every residential property in Poland must have smoke detectors installed. And if your flat has a gas water heater, boiler, or fireplace, a CO detector is essential. Carbon monoxide is odourless, and without a detector you may not notice it until it is too late. We install smoke and CO detectors across all of Warsaw: from new builds in Wilanow to older tenement buildings in Praga. Fast, tidy, with a full function test.
How much does it cost and what affects the price
The price depends on the number of detectors and the mounting type. A battery-powered standalone detector is fixed to the ceiling in minutes. A wired detector integrated into a smart-home system requires a power feed. Cost factors include: ceiling type (concrete, plasterboard, stretch), number of points, and whether cable routing is needed. Mounting hardware is included. The client purchases the detectors — we can recommend a model. See current prices in the table below.
| Service | min | max |
|---|---|---|
| Smoke / CO detector installation | 120 zł | 220 zł |
How the installation works
- You send a floor plan or description — the technician recommends the number and placement of detectors.
- We agree on a time — usually the same or next day.
- On site, the technician identifies optimal positions: ceiling in bedrooms, hallway, kitchen, near gas appliances.
- For standalone detectors — holes are drilled, the base is mounted, and the detector clicks into place.
- For wired units — cable is routed, power connected, and the detector installed.
- Every detector is tested — the test button is pressed and the siren confirmed.
- The technician explains how to check the detector and when to replace batteries.
Common installation mistakes
- Placing the smoke detector directly above the cooker — it triggers every time you cook.
- Mounting the CO detector on the ceiling — carbon monoxide is heavier than air, so the detector should be at 150 cm height.
- Sticking it up with double-sided tape — it peels off and falls over time.
- Forgetting to change batteries — after a year or two the detector stops working and nobody notices.
- Putting one detector for the whole flat — regulations require at least one per floor and in each bedroom.
- Not testing after installation — the detector could be faulty straight from the box.
What to prepare before the technician arrives
- Purchase the detectors (or tell the technician the model and he will confirm compatibility).
- Decide how many you need: at least one smoke detector per bedroom and one in the hallway.
- If you have gas appliances (water heater, boiler, gas hob) — you need a CO detector.
- Find out the ceiling type: concrete, plasterboard, stretch.
- Ensure ceiling access — if the height exceeds 3 m, let us know in advance.
- Prepare a stepladder or let us know — the technician brings his own.
- For wired detectors, check for a nearby power outlet or cable.
- Provide the intercom code and parking information.
A real case from Warsaw
A call-out to a flat in Bemowo: a family with a small child, a two-room apartment with a gas water heater in the bathroom. We installed three Kidde smoke detectors (bedroom, nursery, hallway) and one Honeywell CO detector near the heater at 150 cm height. Concrete ceilings — mounted with 6 mm plugs. Every detector was tested with the check button. We explained to the clients that batteries should be replaced annually and the test button pressed monthly. The entire installation took about 40 minutes. The client said he had been meaning to do it for ages but did not know where to place them or which models to buy.
Frequently asked questions
Are smoke detectors mandatory in Poland?
Yes, since 2023 all residential properties must have smoke detectors. This is a building-code requirement.
What is the difference between a smoke detector and a CO detector?
A smoke detector responds to smoke particles. A CO detector responds to carbon monoxide — an invisible, odourless gas produced by incomplete combustion (gas appliances, fireplaces).
Where should a smoke detector be placed?
On the ceiling, centrally or at least 30 cm from a wall. Required in every bedroom and in the hallway.
Where should a CO detector be placed?
On the wall at 150 cm height near gas appliances. Not on the ceiling.
How often should batteries be replaced?
Once a year for standard batteries. Models with a sealed 10-year battery need the whole unit replaced at end of life.
Can detectors be installed on a stretch ceiling?
Yes, via a backing platform installed beneath the membrane. If the ceiling is already stretched, an adhesive platform is used.
Which brands do you recommend?
Kidde, Honeywell, FireAngel, Ei Electronics — proven brands with certification.
How long does installation take?
One standalone detector — 10-15 minutes. A full set for a flat (3-5 units) — about an hour.
What is included in the price?
The technician’s labour, mounting hardware, and testing. Detectors are purchased by the client.
Do you work on weekends?
Yes, Saturday and Sunday are regular working days.
Who does the work
Detectors are installed by a technician who knows placement regulations and the differences between optical, ionisation, and combination models. Every unit is tested after mounting. We cover all of Warsaw. Call or message us — we reply within an hour. Safety should not wait.
