How it works
- You tell us the symptoms — rumbling on spin, rusty water, drum play.
- Complete strip-down: top, panels, counterweights, tub removal.
- Open the tub (or cut a non-split type).
- Press out the old bearings, take out the seal.
- Press in new bearings, install a new seal with grease.
- Put the tub and machine back together.
- Test at 1400 rpm — quiet, no play, no leaks.
Mistakes
- Changing bearings without the seal — water gets back in, and the new bearings rust after a few months.
- Running the washer with destroyed bearings — the shaft can slice through the tub.
- Mixing it up with a loose foreign object rattling inside.
- Skipping the spider/cross check — if it is cracked, replacing bearings makes no sense.
- DIY with a hammer — damages the housing.

Tip: if you hear rumbling and see rust marks, don’t wait — once the shaft cuts through the tub, the repair gets much bigger.
