Washing Machine Bearing Replacement in Warsaw

Washer making a heavy rumbling noise on spin, rusty water coming out from the drum, or the drum moving when you push it by hand? Bearings hold the drum shaft in place. Once the seal wears out, water gets into the bearings — they rust and fall apart. This is one of the hardest washer repairs, because the whole tub has to come out. We handle it on site all over Warsaw.

Cost

Big repair, 2–4 hours. Prices are in the table. Bearings + seal billed separately. We always change them together.

How it works

  1. You tell us the symptoms — rumbling on spin, rusty water, drum play.
  2. Complete strip-down: top, panels, counterweights, tub removal.
  3. Open the tub (or cut a non-split type).
  4. Press out the old bearings, take out the seal.
  5. Press in new bearings, install a new seal with grease.
  6. Put the tub and machine back together.
  7. Test at 1400 rpm — quiet, no play, no leaks.

Mistakes

  • Changing bearings without the seal — water gets back in, and the new bearings rust after a few months.
  • Running the washer with destroyed bearings — the shaft can slice through the tub.
  • Mixing it up with a loose foreign object rattling inside.
  • Skipping the spider/cross check — if it is cracked, replacing bearings makes no sense.
  • DIY with a hammer — damages the housing.

Preparation

  • Washer model.
  • Describe: rumbling, rusty water, wobble.
  • Unplug from mains and disconnect water.
  • LOTS of space — full disassembly.
  • Sheet or old blanket on the floor.
  • Photo of model.
  • Set aside 3–4 hours.
  • Built-in? It must be pulled out.

Case from Warsaw

Client in Mokotów: Bosch, 7 years old — on spin it sounded like a jet, and rusty water was showing up on the floor. The inner bearing had fallen apart, and the seal had been gone for a long time. The spider was intact (lucky). We replaced the bearing set + seal. Test at 1400 — silence. 3 hours. Tip: if you hear rumbling and see rust marks, don’t wait — once the shaft cuts through the tub, the repair gets much bigger.

FAQ

What do bearings do?

They support the drum shaft as it rotates. Two bearings — inner (large) and outer (small).

How to tell?

Rumbling on spin, rusty water, drum wobble by hand.

Keep washing?

No — the shaft can cut through the tub.

Why replace the seal?

It keeps water away from the bearings. Without it, the new bearings rust again.

Time?

2–4 hours.

Brands?

Bosch, Samsung, LG, Electrolux, Beko, Whirlpool, Indesit.

Replace or buy new?

If the machine is under 8 years old, bearing replacement is cheaper.

Non-split tub?

Cut it open and re-seal with sealant.

DIY?

Possible, but very hard without a bearing puller.

Warranty?

Yes.
