What the job covers
An IKEA manual can eat a whole evening, and a wardrobe put together by eye starts leaning within a year. The fitter brings his own tools, screws the carcasses together, hangs the doors and checks everything with a spirit level. IKEA sets and kitchens are priced as a percentage of the furniture price; a wardrobe, bed or dresser is priced per item. Aleks, who founded the service, spent four years in a cabinet furniture workshop and knows how much trouble one crooked drawer runner can cause. The exact amount comes in the offer, and the price list shows the ranges.

What a furniture fitter assembles
Most jobs are flat-pack furniture: wardrobes, chests of drawers, beds and shelving from IKEA, Agata or Black Red White. Then there is table or desk assembly, including electric sit-stand desks, and kitchen unit assembly, which demands more precision than a single wardrobe.
A furniture fitter also handles what comes before and after. Furniture disassembly when moving, furniture repair for torn-out hinges or drawers off their runners, putting up shelves or mirrors and pictures in a new flat.
Why tall furniture should be fixed to the wall
Tall wardrobes and bookcases must be fixed to the wall with the anti-tip kit the maker puts in the box. It is not a formality: an open drawer or a child climbing the shelves can pull over a full wardrobe. The fitter chooses plugs for the wall, because in prefab blocks it is concrete, in newer buildings often hollow block, and in partition walls plasterboard.
How to prepare for assembly
Bring the boxes into the room where the furniture will stand, or the next room, and leave clear floor space. If you bought several pieces, list their names or article numbers in the job, so the fitter can estimate the time and the offer holds no surprises. Plan somewhere for the cardboard and plastic: with a big order there is a lot of it.
What affects the price
IKEA and kitchen assembly is a percentage of the furniture price, the rest goes per item. What raises or lowers the amount in the offer:
- size of the set: a dresser is a different job from a PAX wardrobe with fittings
- how many doors, drawers and hinges need adjusting
- whether the piece has to be fixed to the wall, and what the wall is made of
- fitting into an alcove, around an uneven floor or under a sloped ceiling
- removing old furniture before the new one goes in
What to watch out for
A tall wardrobe left unanchored
A full wardrobe or bookcase can tip over when a child pulls a drawer or hangs on a door. The wall brackets are in the box for a reason, and the fitter picks plugs to suit your wall.
Missing parts found halfway through
Count the panels and hardware before the visit. If something is missing, the fitter builds the rest and finishing it means a second booking.
Building it in the wrong room
A big wardrobe assembled in the hallway often won't fit through the door. Build it where it will stand.
Doors never adjusted
A door that rubs from day one slowly pulls its hinge out of the board. Adjusting takes a few minutes and saves a repair.
Before the visit
- A link to the set or a photo of the boxes, so the fitter can quote straight away
- All boxes on site and checked against the parts list
- Clear space in the room where the furniture will stand
- What the wall is made of, if the wardrobe needs anchoring
- Whether boxes and old furniture should be taken away (paid separately)

Questions about furniture assembly
How much does IKEA assembly cost?
IKEA sets and full kitchens are charged at 20–25% of the furniture price. Wardrobes, beds and dressers have their own per-item ranges in the price list. The fitter gives the exact amount in the offer, ideally from a link to the set.
Do fitters assemble non-IKEA furniture?
Yes. Black Red White, Agata, Jysk or any other shop: what matters is the set, not the brand. Describe what needs building in the app and compare offers.
Does a wardrobe have to be fixed to the wall?
Tall wardrobes, bookcases and dressers in a home with kids, yes. The fitter anchors them to the wall, and fixings are usually included. If the wall is plasterboard, mention it in the order.
Can I book disassembly or removal?
Yes. Taking furniture apart before a move and removing old units are separate items in the price list. Transport is not on offer: nobody on the platform moves furniture by van.
Who takes the packaging away?
Removing boxes and old furniture is a paid extra. Tick it in the order and agree the amount with the fitter.
Who is responsible for the assembly?
The fitter who does it, and he issues the invoice. We connect you with fitters in the app, where you see offers and ratings and agree the scope. Made-to-measure furniture from scratch and reupholstery are not available here.
Does the fitter bring their own tools?
Yes, a drill driver, spirit level and basic tools. Screws and fittings come in the manufacturer’s boxes.
How long does a PAX wardrobe take?
It depends on the size and the interior fittings. A large wardrobe with drawers and sliding doors usually takes several hours.
Can I book several pieces at once?
Yes, and it usually works out better than separate visits. List all the furniture in one job.
