1. I’m ordering a job
1.1. How it works
- 1.1.1 How much does HandyMan24 cost? Clients pay the platform nothing. You pay the professional for the work directly: in cash, or by card if they accept it.
- 1.1.2 How does HandyMan24 work? You publish a job, professionals send offers with their own prices, and you choose who to work with. You conclude the contract with the professional and pay them.
1.2. Your job
- 1.2.1 How do I post a job? Choose the work, give the quantity, address, date and description, then confirm your e-mail address. Only then can professionals see the job.
- 1.2.2 Why can’t professionals see my job? Most often because your e-mail address isn't confirmed yet. Apart from that, only professionals from the right category and area see the job.
- 1.2.3 What is the price range shown with a job? A guide built on platform data. It isn't a price: each professional sets the price of each piece of work in their offer.
- 1.2.4 Who meets the professional if I’m not there? Someone you name in the job: a neighbour, a family member, a building manager. You give their first name and phone number, and only the chosen professional sees them.
- 1.2.5 How long is a job visible? Until a deadline that depends on the preferred date of the work. The platform shows it with the job, reminds you before it ends and lets you extend it once.
- 1.2.6 How do I change a job? Until you choose a professional for a piece of work, you can change it. Offers stay valid, and their authors are notified of material changes.
- 1.2.7 Why don’t I have any offers? Only professionals from this category and area see the job, and only after your e-mail address is confirmed. Check that first.
1.3. Choosing a handyman
- 1.3.1 How do I compare offers and choose a professional? Each offer shows the price, rating, number of reviews and verification level. The order of the list doesn't depend on any of these, so the comparing is up to you.
- 1.3.2 What does “Identity confirmed” mean? That the professional has passed the second level of verification: we checked the business in the registers, or a staff member compared their details with a document.
- 1.3.3 What is the minimum call-out? The lowest amount of one contract with a professional: 300 zł. A single offer can be cheaper, but the total with one professional can't.
- 1.3.4 Can different professionals do different pieces of work? Yes. You choose a professional separately for each piece of work in the job. Work given to one professional makes up one contract.
1.4. The work and payment
- 1.4.1 When will I see the phone number and address? After you choose the professional. Then you both see each other's full names and phone numbers, and the professional also sees the address of the work.
- 1.4.2 The professional is proposing a change of scope. What now? You accept the proposal or reject it. The price doesn't change without your consent, and rejecting is not a violation.
- 1.4.3 How do I pay the professional? Directly to the professional: in cash, or by card if they accept card payments. Money for the work doesn't pass through the platform.
- 1.4.4 Who issues the invoice or receipt? The professional, because you conclude the contract with them and pay them. The platform isn't a party to that contract and doesn't issue a document for the work.
- 1.4.5 How do I confirm the work is done? When the professional marks the contract as “Done”, you confirm completion or report a problem. You have 7 days to do it.
- 1.4.6 What are the “before” and “after” photos for? They document that the work was done. The professional takes them in the app, and they help in a dispute or complaint.
- 1.4.7 How do I book the same professional again? Use the “Order again” button on a completed contract. Your conversation with the professional stays on the platform.
1.5. Cancelling and problems
- 1.5.1 How do I cancel a job? Until you have chosen someone, you cancel the job with no consequences. After the choice, you cancel the contract with the professional: in full or for part of the work.
- 1.5.2 The work was done badly. What can I do? Before confirming, open a dispute. After confirming, file a complaint and the conversation with the professional reopens. You paid the professional, so the money does not go through the platform.
- 1.5.3 The professional didn’t turn up. What should I do? Report it on the platform: a human will review it. If you don't want to wait for this professional any longer, cancel the contract and the work goes back into the job.
- 1.5.4 How does a dispute work and who decides it? You open a dispute on the contract any time from choosing the professional until confirmation. Our staff member decides it, but only on platform matters: the contract status and the commission.
1.6. Reviews
- 1.6.1 How do I leave a review? After the contract is confirmed, you have 14 days to give a rating from 1 to 5 stars and an optional comment. One review per contract.
- 1.6.2 Why do both sides write reviews “blind”? So that nobody can retaliate or bargain over ratings. We publish both sides' reviews at the same time.
- 1.6.3 How is a professional’s rating calculated? It's a plain average of all reviews, shown from 3 reviews onwards. Before that, the profile shows the label “New pro”.
1.7. Tips before you order
- 1.7.1 How do I get my home ready for the professional’s visit? Clear space around the work area, put away valuables and anything fragile, and sort out access and parking. Then the professional can get straight to work.
- 1.7.2 How do I describe the work and take photos so the offers are accurate? Give sizes and quantities, say what you already have, and add two or three photos: the whole area and a close-up. The less a professional has to guess, the more accurate the price.
- 1.7.3 Who buys the materials, and what does the price include? The price usually covers the labour and small fixings. The client buys the materials, and removing rubble or carrying materials in are separate items. Agree on this before work starts.
- 1.7.4 How can I tell whether the price in an offer is reasonable? Compare several offers for the same work, check the indicative range and ask what the price includes. The cheapest offer doesn't always work out cheapest.
- 1.7.5 What should I agree with the professional before work starts? The date, the scope, materials, how you'll pay and the document. Ideally in writing in the platform messages, because that leaves a record.
- 1.7.6 How do I spot a scam or a fake link? HandyMan24 never asks for your password, SMS code, card details, or payment to a platform account for a professional's work. A request like that is a fraud attempt.
- 1.7.7 How do I prepare for electrical work? Find the fuse box and note which circuit controls what. Don't take anything apart yourself: work on an electrical installation is done by a qualified person.
- 1.7.8 How do I prepare for plumbing work? Find the main water valve and check that it turns. Empty the cabinets under the sink, and have towels and a bowl ready.
- 1.7.9 When does a professional need qualifications? In Poland, work on gas and electrical installations requires qualifications, that is, a certificate of qualification. Ask about them before you choose, and check the badges in the profile.
- 1.7.10 Renovating in a block of flats: what should I keep in mind? Check the rules of your owners' association or housing cooperative, warn the neighbours and sort out the waste. For work on risers and load-bearing walls, ask the building manager first.
- 1.7.11 What should I check when the work is finished? Look over the work while the professional is still there, check that everything works, and only then confirm completion. Raise any issues straight away.
- 1.7.12 What is statutory liability for defects, and how do I use it? It's the contractor's liability for defects in the work under the Polish Civil Code. You report a defect to the professional who did the work, ideally in writing and with photos.
2. I’m a handyman
2.1. Getting started
- 2.1.1 Do I need a registered business? Not to start. You work for yourself, as a private person or as a business. You choose the form and how you settle your taxes.
- 2.1.2 How do I start taking jobs? Complete your profile and top up your HandyCoin Account. You can send offers straight away: you don't need to confirm your identity first.
- 2.1.3 What do I get by confirming my identity? The “Identity confirmed” level removes the level 1 limits: you get urgent jobs, more contracts at once and a bonus. Your commission stays the same.
- 2.1.4 How do I add my professional qualifications? You can add qualifications that can be checked in a public register. We check them there and show them to clients as a badge.
- 2.1.5 What is shown on my public page? Your first name and the first letter of your surname or your company name, photo, city and area of operation, the work you do, and reviews.
2.2. Jobs and offers
- 2.2.1 How do I send an offer? On a job in your category and area, you give your own price for each piece of work. Before sending, you see the commission you'd pay if chosen.
- 2.2.2 Why is my offer “Inactive”? Your HandyCoin Account balance has dropped below the commission you'd pay if chosen. Top up and the offer works again.
- 2.2.3 What decides the order of offers and jobs? A few simple rules: active before inactive, newer before older. Price, rating, verification level and payments play no part.
- 2.2.4 “Before” and “after” photos: when and why? You take them in the app for each piece of work, before you start and after you finish. They're your evidence in a dispute or a complaint.
- 2.2.5 There’s more work on site than expected. What now? Propose a change of scope on the platform. The client accepts or rejects it, and without their consent the price stays as in your offer.
- 2.2.6 How does the minimum call-out top-up charge work? One contract is at least the minimum call-out. When the work costs less, the client pays the difference or gives you another piece of work. The top-up charge goes entirely to you.
2.3. Commission and HandyCoin
- 2.3.1 How much is the commission and when do I pay it? You pay only when a client chooses you. Commission comes off your HandyCoin Account at the moment of choice, and the rate depends on the contract amount.
- 2.3.2 How do I top up my HandyCoin Account? On the website, by card, BLIK or another method offered by our payment operator Stripe. The smallest top-up has to cover the lowest commission.
- 2.3.3 What bonuses can I get, and how long do they last? One for confirming your identity and one for passing the test on using the platform. A bonus can only be used for commission and is valid for a set period.
- 2.3.4 When do I get my commission back? When a contract is cancelled. We usually propose a full refund to your HandyCoin Account, and in a few situations we review the case by hand.
- 2.3.5 How do I accept card payments? You turn them on through a Stripe form on the platform. The client's money goes to your Stripe account, and Stripe makes the payouts.
- 2.3.6 Can I withdraw from a top-up? Yes, if you're a consumer: you have 14 days from the top-up. We return the unused part using the same payment method.
2.4. Rules and your account
- 2.4.1 I have to cancel a contract. What happens? You cancel the whole contract or part of the work and pick a reason from a list. The effect on your account and commission depends on whose side the reason lies.
- 2.4.2 How do violations and account restrictions work? Each violation has a weight. We add up the weights from the last 180 days, and the total sets your account status. There are no financial penalties, and every decision can be appealed.
- 2.4.3 How do I reply to a review or report it? You can reply publicly to each review once, within 30 days. A review that breaks the rules can be reported, and a staff member checks it.
- 2.4.4 Why can’t I arrange work outside the platform? Commission is the fee for the platform bringing about the contract, so work from a specific job is arranged through the platform. Clients you find elsewhere are yours to handle as you like.
- 2.4.5 DAC7: what data do you report, and why? As a platform operator, we have to report professionals' data and platform earnings to the Head of KAS once a year. We ask for it with your first contract.
- 2.4.6 Profile photo rules for Professionals Which profile photos we accept, why we reject some and how to add yours. A photo is required for the “Identity confirmed” level.
2.5. Tips for handymen
- 2.5.1 How do I get more jobs? Complete your profile, choose your categories and area well, write specific offers and keep an eye on your balance. A higher place on the list can't be bought.
- 2.5.2 How do I price the work in an offer? Count your rate, your time including travel, and whatever the client can't see in the photo. Say plainly what's included and what's charged separately.
- 2.5.3 What should I ask the client before pricing? Anything that changes the time and cost: photos, the type of wall, the floor and lift, parking, materials. You send the question in the conversation on the job.
- 2.5.4 What should I write in the offer comment? Keep it short: how you'll do this particular job, what's included, what you need from the client and when you can come.
- 2.5.5 How do I arrange a date, and what if I’m running late? Agree a specific day and time in the messages, and let the client know straight away about any change. Not turning up without notice is a violation.
- 2.5.6 What should I bring to a job? The tools for this particular job, spare fixings, things to protect the home and a charged phone for the photos in the app.
- 2.5.7 How do I take good “before” and “after” photos? From the same spot, in good light, the whole area plus a close-up. The “before” photo also shows what was already damaged before you started.
- 2.5.8 How do I collect good reviews honestly? Well-done work, a tidy site and one request for a review. You must not offer anything for a review or force one.
- 2.5.9 How do I stay safe on a job? Cut the power and water before you start, check the wall before drilling, and use glasses, gloves and a stable ladder. Don't touch gas without qualifications.
- 2.5.10 When do I need qualifications (SEP, gas)? In Poland, work on electrical and gas installations requires a certificate of qualification. You alone are responsible for holding the qualifications required.
- 2.5.11 How do I settle up with the client? The client pays you, in cash or by card if you accept it. Agree on the payment method and the document before the work, and which document you issue depends on your form of business.
- 2.5.12 How do I talk to a client when there’s a conflict? Calmly, and in writing on the platform. Propose any change of scope through the app, and if you can't reach an agreement, open a dispute.
3. Account and safety
3.1. Account and data
- 3.1.1 How do I create an account and log in? You create an account with an e-mail address and password, a Google account, or a link sent to your e-mail. Any adult can open one.
- 3.1.2 How do I delete my account and my data? You can delete your account in the settings or at app.handyman24.eu/account/delete. Deletion happens after 14 days, and until then you can cancel it.
- 3.1.3 How do messages and translation work? The client and the professional have one conversation per job. We translate messages automatically into the recipient's language, and the original is always shown next to it.
- 3.1.4 Where is artificial intelligence used? In four places: translation, the job description assistant, detection of contact details and detection of specially protected data. The model suggests or flags; a human or a simple rule decides.
3.2. Safety and reports
- 3.2.1 How do I use the platform safely? HandyMan24 never asks for your password, SMS code, card details or a transfer for work to a “Platform account”. A request like that is a fraud attempt.
- 3.2.2 How do I report illegal content or abuse? Click “Report” next to the content, or write to info@handyman24.eu with the subject “Content report”. Anyone can report, even without an account.
- 3.2.3 How do I contact you? Through the “Help” form in the app and on the website, or by e-mail at info@handyman24.eu. A human always replies.
- 3.2.4 How do I file a complaint about the platform? Through “Help” or at info@handyman24.eu. You'll get the reply by e-mail or in the “My requests” tab.
