What should I agree with the professional before work starts?
In short The date, the scope, materials, how you'll pay and the document. Ideally in writing in the platform messages, because that leaves a record.
Once you’ve chosen a professional, you see each other’s names, phone numbers and the address of the work. You can arrange the date by phone, but write the important points in the platform messages too. If there’s a dispute, the staff member reviewing it relies on exactly those.
Checklist
- The day and approximate arrival time.
- Scope: what exactly is to be done, and what isn’t.
- Materials: who buys them and what needs to be on site.
- Cleaning up and waste removal: whether they’re included in the price.
- Payment: cash, or card if the professional accepts it.
- Document: an invoice or a bill, if you need one. The professional issues it.
If more work turns up on site
The professional proposes a change of scope on the platform, and you accept or reject it. The price doesn’t change without your consent, and rejecting a proposal isn’t a violation. Don’t agree to extra charges settled only by word of mouth.
You pay the professional for the work directly. The platform doesn’t accept money for work, so nobody should ask you to transfer money “to the HandyMan24 account”.
