When does a professional need qualifications?
In short In Poland, work on gas and electrical installations requires qualifications, that is, a certificate of qualification. Ask about them before you choose, and check the badges in the profile.
For work on gas and electrical installations. The qualifications are confirmed by a certificate of qualification (świadectwo kwalifikacji). Some other work, for example on air conditioning or equipment under technical inspection, needs other documents as well. The exact scope depends on the work, so if in doubt, check at the source or ask a specialist.
Be careful with gas
Don’t touch a gas installation yourself, not even to replace the hose on a cooker. Smell gas? Don’t light anything and don’t switch lights on or off, open the windows, leave the flat and call 112.
What the professional’s profile shows
- Qualifications that can be checked in a public register, for example F-gas, building licences, UDT (Office of Technical Inspection) or renewable energy (OZE) installer. When you click the badge, you see the issuing body, the number, the expiry date, a link to the register and the date of the check.
- When the register entry expires, the badge disappears.
- The badge only says that the entry exists. It doesn’t confirm the quality of the work.
How to ask
Write in the messages before you choose: “Do you have the qualifications for this work? Please send a photo of the certificate.” The professional is responsible for holding the qualifications the law requires, but you’re the one who can check. No reply tells you something too.
