What should I check when the work is finished?
In short Look over the work while the professional is still there, check that everything works, and only then confirm completion. Raise any issues straight away.
It’s best to check the work before the professional leaves. That way they can fix small things on the spot, and you don’t have to arrange a second visit.
What to look at
- Function: doors and cabinets close properly, the tap doesn’t drip, the drain runs freely, the light switches on.
- Finish: straight lines, grout and silicone without gaps, no scratches on furniture or the floor.
- Tidiness: whether it’s been cleaned up as you agreed.
- Things to hand over: instructions, keys, spare parts, the manufacturer’s documents for appliances.
Don’t test the electrical installation yourself. Ask the professional to show you it working.
Confirming on the platform
When the professional marks the contract as “Done”, you have 7 days to confirm it or report a problem. If you do nothing, the contract is confirmed automatically. Something wrong? Open a dispute before confirming, describe the problem and add photos.
Take your own photos of the finished work too. They’ll come in handy if a defect shows up later.
