What the job covers

A garden on the edge of Warsaw grows faster than you expect. Two weeks away in June and the grass is knee-high, with the hedge spilling onto the pavement. Here you book one specific job at a time: a single mow, one hedge trim, the autumn leaves.

Garden work all year round

A gardener’s season in Warsaw starts in spring with raking, scarifying and the first lawn mowing. Summer is mostly regular mowing and hedge trimming, autumn brings leaf clearing and cutting back branches before winter. In winter there is clearing snow from the drive and pavement, which in many places is the property owner’s responsibility.

Most jobs come from houses on the edges of the city, such as Wawer, Białołęka or Ursus, and from towns around Warsaw. But gardeners also look after small gardens outside ground-floor flats and shared green spaces belonging to residents’ associations.

Regular care or a one-off clear-up

A one-off clear-up is a good choice when a plot has been neglected or you are getting a house ready to sell or let. An overgrown plot needs different kit from a lawn, so photos in the job help a lot. Regular care, such as mowing every week or two, keeps each visit short and stops the lawn and hedge getting out of hand. In the app you can keep booking the same gardener.

What happens to green waste

Grass clippings, leaves and branches have to go somewhere. At a house they often go on the compost heap or into the brown bio-waste bags. Larger amounts of branches go to a PSZOK recycling point or out with the bulky waste collection. If you want the gardener to take the waste away, say so in the job, as removal is charged separately.

What affects the price

Ranges are per metre, per hour or per item, depending on the job. The amount depends on:

  • lawn size and how overgrown it is
  • hedge length and height
  • how high the branches are, meaning whether a ladder is needed
  • whether the cuttings have to be taken away
  • access: a gate, a narrow passage, a slope

What to watch out for

  • Cutting hedges in nesting season

Birds nest in hedges in spring. Leave the hard cut for late summer and only tidy them in spring.

  • Mowing too short

Grass cut to the ground in hot weather burns yellow. Leave a few centimetres.

  • Thick branches without a plan

A big limb over a roof or power line is a job for a licensed specialist, not a gardener with secateurs. Felling whole trees is not in the price list.

  • Nowhere for the waste

Bags of grass and branches have to go somewhere. Agree on that before the work starts.

Before the visit

  1. Photos of the lawn, hedge or trees
  2. Rough area and hedge length
  3. Access to the property and to power if needed
  4. What should happen to the green waste
  5. Toys and obstacles cleared off the lawn

Questions about mowing and hedge trimming

How much does lawn mowing cost?

The range is in the table and the price list. The gardener gives the exact amount in the offer, based on photos and size. Small jobs are worth grouping into one request.

Does the gardener bring tools?

Usually yes, but confirm it in the offer, especially for a large lawn or a tall hedge.

Can I book weekly mowing?

Here you book a single job. Post the next one in the app when you need it.

Will the gardener cut down a tree?

No. The price list covers pruning branches. Felling a whole tree needs different equipment and sometimes a permit from the municipality.

Who is responsible for the quality?

The gardener who does the work. The platform connects you through the app, where you see offers and ratings.

Will the gardener prune fruit trees?

Pruning fruit trees is a separate job, best done in winter or early spring. Describe the trees in the job and add photos.

Do I need permission to fell a tree?

For some trees, yes, depending on the species and trunk girth. Check with the district office before booking any felling.

Do gardeners work in the rain?

Some jobs can go ahead in light rain, but wet grass is best not mown. The gardener will suggest another date if the weather does not allow it.
