What the job covers
Most jobs here are small fixes around the flat: a dripping tap, a leaking trap, a cistern that keeps running. A plumber by the hour in Warsaw makes sense when there are several of these or nobody can tell how long it will take. The plumber then charges for time, usually 250–300 zł an hour. If water is pouring, shut the main valve first, and if it is reaching the neighbours, tell your building management.
- Tap fitting and replacement
- Toilet and WC frame swaps, cistern repair
- Trap replacement and leak fixes
- Unblocking sink, bath and kitchen drains
- Water heaters swapped, washing machines and dishwashers hooked up
- Bathtub and shower silicone

What people usually book a plumber for
Most plumbing jobs in Warsaw are not emergencies but replacements and installations that have been put off for months. A dripping tap, a cistern that keeps running, a trap that smells. A plumber handles these in one visit, and describing several at once usually works out cheaper than separate call-outs.
Another group is bathroom work during a renovation or after buying new fittings: vanity unit installation, floor-standing toilet installation, WC frame replacement or a bathtub replacement. Here it helps to give measurements and photos of the water and waste points straight away, because they decide whether a swap is enough or the pipework needs altering.
The third group is appliances: connecting a washing machine or dishwasher, or installing a water heater where there is no mains hot water. And when water stops draining, drain cleaning with a snake beats yet another bottle of chemicals.
Plumbing in Warsaw buildings
Prefab blocks in districts such as Bródno, Ursynów or Bemowo often still have steel or cast iron stacks and pipes that are several decades old. When replacing a tap or toilet, the plumber checks the isolation valves, because old ones seize and will not shut the water off. Newer buildings usually have plastic pipework, but the bathrooms are tight and concealed frames sit behind boxing with no access panel.
One important boundary: the riser and the shared valves on the staircase belong to the building. If the leak is in the stack, or water has to be shut off for the whole stairwell, you need the building manager’s consent and help. The plumber will tell you which side the problem is on.
How to write a good job description
Describe what is happening and add two or three photos: the fault itself, the valve under the basin or sink and, if possible, the markings on the tap or cistern. Say whether you already have the new fitting or the plumber should bring it. That way the offers you get in the app are specific, and the plumber arrives with the right parts.
What affects the price
Some jobs have a per-item range in the price list, the rest the plumber charges by the hour. What moves the figure in the offer:
- access: a tap in plain sight is not the same job as a WC frame behind tiles
- the state of old valves and fittings, which can crack when you undo them
- whether the fixtures and parts are already there or the plumber buys them (materials are paid separately)
- how many small jobs at once: with several, hourly pay usually works out cheaper
- an urgent callout at extra cost, plus carrying in and taking away old appliances, charged separately
What to watch out for
Starting with the water still on
Undo a hose with the valve open and the kitchen floods. Before touching anything, check that the valve under the sink or the main one by the meter really holds.
Working on a live water heater
Water and electricity in one appliance. Before any work on a water heater or washing machine, switch off the breaker in the fuse box, not just the button on the unit.
Pouring drain cleaner again and again
One bottle did nothing, nor did the second, and now caustic liquid sits in the trap. The plumber will take the trap apart and use a drain snake. Just say what you have already poured in.
Buying a tap without checking sizes
A wall-mounted mixer has a fixed spacing between inlets, a basin tap has its own hose length. Take a photo of the old one before buying.
Before the visit
- Photos of the fault and the space under the sink
- Where the main water valve is and whether it closes
- The new tap, trap or water heater on site, if you are buying it yourself
- An empty cabinet under the sink and a clear way to the bathroom
- Whether you want the plumber to take away the old toilet or heater

Questions about plumbing services
Can I book a plumber by the hour in Warsaw?
Yes. If you have several small faults or they are hard to price upfront, the plumber charges for time, usually 250–300 zł an hour. Materials are paid separately.
How soon can someone come?
It depends on who nearby is free. You see the timing in the offer before you choose anyone. An urgent callout is available at extra cost.
Can I order plumbing from scratch?
No. Plumbers in the app replace and connect things: taps, toilets, traps, water heaters, washing machines. New pipe runs inside walls, riser replacement and machine drain cleaning are not on offer.
What if my flat is flooding?
Shut the main water valve. If water is going through to the neighbours, report it to building management. Once the water is stopped, describe the repair in the app and tradespeople will send offers.
How much is replacing a tap?
The table above gives a rough range. The plumber names the exact amount in the offer, and the tap itself is bought separately.
When and who do I pay?
You pay the plumber you chose directly. They do the work and answer for it, and they issue the invoice if you need one.
Will the plumber take the old fittings away?
Carrying out and disposing of an old tap, toilet or water heater is an extra service. Add it to the job and the plumber will include it in the offer.
What should I do before the plumber arrives if there is a leak?
Turn off the water valve in the flat, switch off the power in the flooded room and take photos. If water is coming from a neighbour or the shared stack, tell the building manager.
Do plumbers work at weekends?
It depends on the tradespeople near you. Put a convenient time in the job and the offers will show who can come, and when.
