Freestanding Wardrobe Assembly in Warsaw — Professional, Neat, Done in One Visit

Bought a new wardrobe and found a bag of a hundred parts plus a 30-page manual inside the box? A freestanding wardrobe is not a stool: heavy chipboard panels, a shelf system, a hanging rail, hinges with three-way adjustment. One mistake — crooked doors or a stripped thread — and instead of saving money you have a headache. We assemble wardrobes across all of Warsaw: we bring our own tools, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and leave the place tidy. If you want the wardrobe standing straight and the doors closing properly, give us a call.

How much does wardrobe assembly cost and what affects the price

The price depends on the wardrobe size, the number of sections, and the door type. A two-door unit with a couple of shelves is one thing; a three-metre system with pull-out drawers, mirrors, and interior lighting is something else entirely. Cost factors include: the number of drawers (each one is a separate mechanism), hinge type (standard or soft-close), and whether wall mounting is needed. Fixings included with the furniture are covered in the price. Additional anchors or wall plugs for your specific wall type are charged separately. See current prices in the table below.

How the on-site assembly works

  1. You send a photo of the box or the model name — the technician estimates the scope and gives you an approximate timeframe.
  2. We agree on a convenient date. We usually arrive the same day or the next.
  3. The technician comes with his own tools: cordless drill with a bit set, spirit level, wood and masonry drill bits, hammer, and a square.
  4. We unpack the boxes and check every part and fitting against the list. If something is missing, we flag it immediately.
  5. The carcase is assembled flat on the floor, then raised upright. For wardrobes taller than 180 cm we work in pairs or use bracing supports.
  6. Doors are hung and hinges adjusted in three planes — so gaps are even and doors close smoothly.
  7. If the wardrobe is taller than 160 cm, we secure it to the wall with a safety bracket or strap. We check stability and clear away the packaging.

Common mistakes when assembling a wardrobe yourself

  • Building the carcase upright — panels are heavy; without a helper the wardrobe can topple and damage the floor or wall. The correct way is to build it lying down, then raise it.
  • Driving confirmat screws in at full drill speed — this strips the thread in chipboard. The last few turns should always be done by hand or at low speed.
  • Not checking the carcase diagonals before fitting the back panel — the wardrobe ends up skewed and the doors cannot be adjusted properly.
  • Mixing up the left and right side panels — mirror-image parts with hinge holes are easy to swap; fixing the mistake means dismantling half the unit.
  • Skipping wall mounting — a two-metre wardrobe full of clothes can weigh over 80 kg, and opening the doors shifts the centre of gravity.
  • Hammering in wooden dowels without glue — over time the structure starts to wobble.
  • Placing the wardrobe on an uneven floor without adjusting the feet — bottom drawers jam and doors go crooked.
  • Nailing on the HDF back panel before the carcase is squared — after that you can no longer correct the geometry.

What to prepare before the technician arrives

  • Make sure the wardrobe boxes are inside the apartment (carrying them upstairs is a separate service).
  • Clear the assembly area — you need at least 2.5 x 3 metres of free space.
  • Check completeness against the receipt or manual — defective or missing parts are best discovered before the visit.
  • Decide exactly where the wardrobe will stand — moving a fully assembled 60 kg+ wardrobe is not included in the assembly price.
  • Find out the wall type behind the wardrobe (concrete, brick, plasterboard) — this determines the right fixings.
  • Ensure access to a power socket — the drill needs charging.
  • Remove rugs and fragile items from the work area — chipboard panels are heavy and easy to drop.
  • Keep pets in another room — small fittings scatter across the floor.
  • Provide the intercom code and parking information.
  • For large wardrobes (3+ doors), let us know in advance so the technician can bring a helper.

A real case from Warsaw

A client in the Wola district ordered assembly of a three-door BRW wardrobe, 220 cm tall, with an overhead compartment, a mirror on the centre door, and four pull-out drawers at the bottom. Two boxes weighing 70 kg each were already in the bedroom. We started by checking: all 247 parts present, hardware sorted in labelled bags. The carcase was assembled horizontally on the floor — the only practical option at that height. The back panel came in two HDF sheets; we fixed them only after measuring the diagonals (under 2 mm difference — acceptable). Soft pads protected the laminate flooring when we raised the unit. The wall turned out to be hollow brick — the standard screws from the kit were swapped for expansion plugs. The mirror on the centre door added weight, so we reinforced the hinges on that section. Every drawer was individually adjusted after installation: smooth action, soft-close working perfectly. The job took about four hours. The client later said he would have spent the entire weekend on it himself — with no guarantee the doors would close evenly.

Frequently asked questions

What wardrobes do you assemble?
Any freestanding type: IKEA, Black Red White, Agata, JYSK, furniture from Allegro or Empik. The approach is the same — manufacturer’s instructions, correct fixings, careful workmanship.

What is included in the price?
The technician’s labour and tools, plus all fixings that come with the furniture. Extra wall plugs, carrying boxes upstairs, and waste removal are charged separately.

How long does assembly take?
A two-door wardrobe of average complexity — 2 to 3 hours. A three-door unit with drawers and an overhead compartment — 3 to 5 hours. A sliding-door wardrobe — up to 6 hours.

Do I need to be home?
Ideally at the start, to show the installation spot and agree on details. After that the technician works independently.

The wardrobe is very heavy — can one person handle it?
Wardrobes up to 200 cm with two doors — yes. For larger models (3+ doors, 220+ cm), we bring a second person. Just mention it when booking.

Can the wardrobe be moved after assembly?
Furniture rearrangement is a separate service. Sliding a fully built wardrobe across laminate without protective pads will scratch the floor.

What if a part is defective?
We document the issue with photos. You contact the retailer for a replacement. Once the new part arrives, we come back and finish the job.

Do you work on weekends?
Yes, Saturdays and Sundays are regular working days for us. Book in advance — weekends are always busy.

Who does the work and how we operate

Assembly is done by technicians who work with flat-pack furniture every day. No trainees, no odd-job generalists — professionals who know the difference between a cam lock and a confirmat screw and why the back panel goes on last. We cover all of Warsaw and surrounding areas: Wola, Mokotow, Bemowo, Ursynow, Praga, Wilanow — we arrive at the agreed time. To book an assembly, call or message us and we will reply within an hour.
