Furniture Hinge Replacement in Warsaw — We Select and Install in One Visit

Furniture Hinge Replacement in Warsaw — We Select and Install in One Visit — HandyMan24 Warsaw

If the hinge is cracked, the soft-close has quit, or the door is hanging loose, adjustment will not solve it — the hinge has to be replaced. Furniture hinges do wear out: soft-close springs break, opening parts fail, and the cups start moving in the chipboard. This shows up most often in kitchens, where the fronts get opened 20 times a day. We replace hinges on all kinds of cabinet furniture across Warsaw — from kitchen units to wardrobes. We come with a set of the main hinge types (Blum, Hettich, GTV) and pick the right one on site.

How much does hinge replacement cost

The price depends on how many hinges need changing and what type they are. Swapping one standard hinge is a fast job. Replacing all soft-close hinges in a kitchen is another story. The cost is influenced by the hinge type (standard, soft-close, angled, glass-door), the condition of the chipboard seat, and whether re-drilling or a repair plate is required. The hinge itself is charged separately from labour. Current rates are in the table below.

How the replacement works

  1. You explain the issue and send a close-up photo — the technician checks the type and chooses a replacement.
  2. If the hinge is non-standard, we order it or tell you where to get it.
  3. On site: we take off the door, unscrew the old hinge from the cup and mounting plate.
  4. We inspect the seat — if the chipboard is loose, we pack the holes with PVA glue and sawdust.
  5. We fit the new hinge: place the cup, secure it with screws, install the plate.
  6. We adjust it in three planes so the gaps are even.
  7. We check the soft-close and test how the door shuts.

Common mistakes when replacing hinges

  • Buying hinges without checking the cup diameter (35 mm is standard, but 26 and 40 mm also exist).
  • Choosing the wrong mounting type — clip-on, inset, overlay, half-overlay may look alike but they do not swap over.
  • Fitting hinges without soft-close where soft-close ones were before — the doors start banging shut.
  • Skipping seat repair — a new hinge in a worn-out hole will drop within a month.
  • Using the wrong screw size — too long goes through the side panel, too short will not hold.
  • Changing only one of two hinges — the load shifts and the second one wears out sooner.

What to prepare before the visit

  • Take a close-up photo of the hinge — type, mounting, markings.
  • Measure the cup diameter (usually 35 mm).
  • Check whether the hinge has soft-close.
  • Count how many hinges need replacing.
  • Empty the cabinet.
  • Tell us the furniture brand if known.
  • Make sure there is access to the furniture.
  • Provide the intercom code.
  • If the doors are glass or mirror — let us know, this uses a different hinge type.
  • Clear some space for the removed door.

A real case from Warsaw

A flat owner in the Ursynow district called about his five-year-old IKEA kitchen. Three lower fronts would not shut: the soft-close mechanisms clicked but did not pull the doors closed. The hinges were IKEA UTRUSTA 153 degrees with built-in soft-close. The springs had broken from heavy use. The technician came with a set of Blum CLIP top hinges with separate BLUMOTION soft-close — a full match for the seat dimensions. He replaced six hinges on three fronts and adjusted the rest. The whole job took an hour. The client said the Blum hinges close even softer than the original IKEA ones.

Frequently asked questions

Do you bring hinges with you?

Yes, we carry the main types: Blum, Hettich, GTV. Non-standard ones we order or advise where to buy.

Can I upgrade from a hinge without soft-close to one with?

Yes, as long as the seat dimensions match (usually a 35 mm cup).

How long does replacement take?

One hinge — 10 to 15 minutes. Seat repair adds 15 to 20 minutes for glue to set.

Is the hinge cost included?

No. Labour is separate, hinges are separate. The technician will show the hinge and quote before fitting.

What if the chipboard around the hinge is destroyed?

We fit a repair plate or move the hinge a few centimetres up or down.

Do you work weekends?

Yes, Saturdays and Sundays are regular working days.
