Furniture Hinge Replacement in Warsaw — We Select and Install in One Visit

Hinge cracked, soft-close stopped working, or the door is wobbling — adjustment will not fix this, the hinge needs replacing. Furniture hinges wear out: soft-close springs snap, opening mechanisms break, cups loosen in the chipboard. It happens most often in kitchens where fronts are opened 20 times a day. We replace hinges on any cabinet furniture across Warsaw — from kitchen cabinets to wardrobes. We arrive with a set of the main hinge types (Blum, Hettich, GTV) and match the right one on site.

How much does hinge replacement cost

The cost depends on the number of hinges and their type. Replacing one standard hinge is a quick job. Replacing all soft-close hinges on a kitchen is a different matter. Price is affected by hinge type (standard, soft-close, angled, glass-door), the condition of the chipboard seat, and whether re-drilling or a repair plate is needed. Hinge cost is separate from labour. Current rates in the table below.

How the replacement works

  1. You describe the problem and send a close-up photo — the technician identifies the type and selects a replacement.
  2. If the hinge is non-standard, we order it or advise where to buy.
  3. On site: we remove the door, unscrew the old hinge from the cup and mounting plate.
  4. We check the seat — if the chipboard is loose, we fill the holes with PVA glue and sawdust.
  5. We install the new hinge: insert the cup, fix with screws, mount the plate.
  6. We adjust in three planes for even gaps.
  7. We test the soft-close and door closure.

Common mistakes when replacing hinges

  • Buying hinges without measuring the cup diameter (35 mm is standard, but 26 and 40 mm exist).
  • Wrong mounting type — clip-on, inset, overlay, half-overlay look similar but are not interchangeable.
  • Installing hinges without soft-close where soft-close ones were — doors start slamming.
  • Not repairing the seat — a new hinge in a stripped hole will sag within a month.
  • Wrong screw size — too long pierces the side panel, too short does not hold.
  • Replacing only one of two hinges — load shifts and the other wears out faster.

What to prepare before the visit

  • Take a close-up photo of the hinge — type, mounting, markings.
  • Measure the cup diameter (usually 35 mm).
  • Note if the hinge has soft-close.
  • Count how many hinges need replacing.
  • Empty the cabinet.
  • Tell us the furniture brand if known.
  • Ensure access to the furniture.
  • Provide the intercom code.
  • If glass or mirror doors — let us know, it is a different hinge type.
  • Prepare space for the removed door.

A real case from Warsaw

An apartment owner in the Ursynow district called about his five-year-old IKEA kitchen. Three lower fronts would not close: the soft-close mechanisms clicked but did not pull the doors shut. Hinges were IKEA UTRUSTA 153 degrees with built-in soft-close. The springs had snapped from heavy use. The technician arrived with a set of Blum CLIP top hinges with separate BLUMOTION soft-close — a full match in terms of seat dimensions. He replaced six hinges across three fronts and adjusted the rest. The job took an hour. The client noted that the Blum hinges close even more gently than the original IKEA ones.

Frequently asked questions

Do you bring hinges with you?

Yes, we carry the main types: Blum, Hettich, GTV. Non-standard ones we order or advise where to buy.

Can I upgrade from a hinge without soft-close to one with?

Yes, provided the seat dimensions match (usually a 35 mm cup).

How long does replacement take?

One hinge — 10 to 15 minutes. Seat repair adds 15 to 20 minutes for glue to set.

Is the hinge cost included?

No. Labour is separate, hinges are separate. The technician will show the hinge and quote before fitting.

What if the chipboard around the hinge is destroyed?

We fit a repair plate or relocate the hinge a few centimetres up or down.

Do you work weekends?

Yes, Saturdays and Sundays are regular working days.
