Roller Shutter Installation in Warsaw — Blinds and Window Coverings
Roller shutters are an easy way to cut glare, keep nosy neighbours out of sight, or give a room a fresher look without doing a full redecoration. Fitting takes 20–40 minutes per window, makes no mess, and works on any uPVC window. We install fabric roller blinds, mini-rollers, cassette systems, day-night blinds and external security shutters. Roller shutter installation costs and what affects the price
The cost comes down to the blind type and how it is fixed. Mini-rollers screwed to the frame are the most straightforward option. Cassette systems with side guides cost a little more because they have to be aligned accurately. External shutters are a different job altogether — they need drilling into the wall and connection to a motor. The installation price includes labour, fixings and a check of the mechanism. How roller shutter installation works: step by step
Fitting roller blinds is clean, fast work:
- Measuring and marking. The technician measures the window width and height and checks that the blind is the right fit. He marks the bracket positions with a spirit level so the fabric hangs evenly.
- Preparing the fixings. Depending on the mounting type, we drill holes in the frame or wall, or fit no-drill brackets (for mini-rollers on tilt-and-turn windows).
- Fitting the brackets. The brackets are fixed to the frame or wall. We check the level across them. With a cassette system, the side guides are first glued or screwed along the glass edges.
- Hanging the blind. The roller tube with the fabric is placed into the brackets and clicks into position. We make sure the fabric rolls down and back up freely without pulling to one side.
- Adjusting the mechanism. We set the spring tension (if spring-operated), the control-chain length and the lower-limit stops. For motorised blinds, we test the electric drive and end stops.
- Final check. The blind is lifted and lowered several times. The fabric should move smoothly, with no sticking or skewing. The bottom bar should stay parallel to the sill.
Common mistakes when installing roller shutters
It seems easy — two brackets and done. In practice, there are quite a few ways to get it wrong:
- Crooked marking. If the brackets are not level, the fabric hangs sideways and the bottom bar sits off line. Refitting means making fresh holes in the frame.
- Wrong blind size. Ordered without exact measurements — the fabric ends up wider or narrower than the opening. Too wide and it will not fit; too narrow and light comes through the sides.
- Drilling without checking the reinforcement. uPVC profiles have a metal reinforcement inside. A screw that is too long can reach the glass unit; too short and the fixing will be loose.
- Clips on heavy blinds. No-drill clips are made for light mini-rollers. A heavy cassette system will come down within a week.
- Forgetting tilt mode. The blind is fixed to the frame, but once the sash tilts, the chain or fabric gets caught. The chain length and stopper position need planning beforehand.
- External shutters without insulation. The external shutter box is mounted outside. If the gaps are not sealed with expanding foam, you get a cold bridge and condensation.
What to prepare before the technician arrives
To keep the installation quick and straightforward:
- Buy the blinds beforehand, or send us the exact window dimensions — we will source and bring the correct model.
- Clear the windowsill and the space around the window.
- Take down curtains and the curtain rail if they get in the way.
- Choose the mounting type: into the frame (screws), on the wall/ceiling, or no-drill (clips).
- If you want motorised blinds, check that there is a power socket close to the window.
- Count how many windows need blinds — doing them all in one visit works out cheaper.
- If the windows are high and a ladder is needed, tell us beforehand — the technician will bring his own.
- Have the entry code and parking information ready.
A real case: cassette blinds in a Mokotow flat
A client in Mokotow ordered day-night cassette blinds for four windows in the bedroom and living room. Standard uPVC tilt-and-turn windows. She bought the blinds herself from IKEA, but they turned out slightly too big — 2 cm wider than the frame. Instead of sending them back, we chose to trim the roller tube and fabric on site.
We cut the tube with a hacksaw and trimmed the fabric with a sharp blade against a straight edge. We mounted the cassette guides using double-sided tape (the client did not want screws in the frame) and fixed the brackets with no-drill clips on the sash. All four blinds were installed in an hour and a half. The fabric runs cleanly, the cassette sits tight to the glass — no light coming in at the sides. The client was pleased — the bedroom was finally dark in the morning.

Can roller blinds be installed without drilling?
Yes. For mini-rollers and lightweight cassette systems, there are clips that snap onto the sash. They work well on tilt-and-turn windows. For heavy blinds or external shutters, drilling is necessary.
What type of blind is best for a bedroom?
For maximum blackout — cassette blinds with blackout fabric and side guides. They sit close to the glass and stop light at the edges. Day-night blinds let you control the light level, but they do not give full darkness.
Will roller blinds damage the plastic frame?
Screws leave small holes that are easy to fill after the blind is removed. No-drill clips leave no marks at all. Guide tracks fixed with double-sided tape also come off without damage.
Can roller blinds be fitted to a roof window?
Yes, but you need dedicated roof-window blinds with side guides and a spring mechanism. Standard roller blinds will not stay put on a sloping window.
