Laminate Countertop Installation in Warsaw
A laminate countertop (HPL) is the most common and affordable choice for kitchens. It looks tidy, is easy to wipe down, and stands up well to daily use. But to avoid swelling and delamination, the fitting has to be done right: clean cuts without chips, properly aligned joints, and moisture sealing on every exposed edge. If you don’t have a circular saw with a fine-tooth blade and hands-on experience with Eurobolts, it’s best to leave the job to a professional. How much does it cost and what affects the price
The price of laminate countertop installation depends on the overall length, number of joints, cutouts for the sink and hob, and how tricky it is to fit against the walls. Fixings (Eurobolts, silicone, edging) are included in the labour cost. The countertop itself, sink, and tap are billed separately. Waste removal and carrying materials are arranged individually. How the on-site work goes
- We take measurements in the kitchen: wall lengths, pipe locations, corner angles (in older buildings in Praga-Poludnie, corners are often nowhere near 90 degrees).
- We mark out the countertop with overhangs and joints in mind. For corner joints we use a 45 degree template or a Eurobolt connection.
- We cut using a circular saw with a 48–60 tooth blade fitted (so the decorative face stays chip-free). The cut is made from the underside — that helps prevent laminate chipping.
- We rout a channel for Eurobolts to connect the sections. The joint is sealed with colour-matched silicone.
- We fit edging to exposed ends: melamine strip with an iron, or an aluminium profile with screws. Every open cut is sealed with silicone to keep moisture out.
- We place the countertop on the cabinets, level it, and fasten it from underneath with screws through the mounting rails.
- We cut openings for the sink and hob (if needed), and seal the cut edges with silicone.
Common customer mistakes (and how to avoid them)
- Cutting the countertop with a jigsaw — this damages the laminate surface with chips, and the marks can’t be disguised.
- Leaving sink cutout edges unsealed — water gets into the chipboard, and within six months the countertop starts to swell.
- Joining sections end-to-end without Eurobolts — the seam starts opening after a couple of months.
- Using clear silicone instead of colour-matched — the joint ends up looking dirty and too noticeable.
- Ordering the countertop with no extra length — then there’s nothing left to trim if the wall is uneven.
- Skipping a cabinet level check before installation — the countertop sits crooked, and a gap appears along the wall.
- Fixing the countertop with expanding foam instead of screws — it moves when loaded.
What to prepare before the technician arrives
- Kitchen cabinets must be assembled, levelled, and fixed to the wall.
- The countertop should already be on site (delivered to the apartment). If it needs carrying upstairs — let us know.
- Confirm the dimensions of your sink and hob — the technician needs exact measurements for the cutouts.
- Choose the edging type: melamine (budget) or aluminium profile (more hard-wearing).
- Clear the work zone — remove everything from the floor and cabinet tops.
- Prepare a power socket for the tools (circular saw, router).
- If the walls are uneven — tell us in advance, because it affects the fitting.
- Provide access details: intercom, parking, lift (a 3m+ countertop won’t fit in a standard lift).
- If you also need the sink and tap connected — mention it beforehand, as that’s a separate service.
A real case from Warsaw
A client in Ursynow ordered a corner kitchen with a laminate countertop measuring 2.4 + 1.6 metres. The countertop was bought at Leroy Merlin in two sections. During measuring, we found that the wall angle was 88 degrees rather than 90. We had to trim the back edge of the countertop at an angle so it would sit tight against both walls. The two sections were joined with two Eurobolts and sealed with Egger silicone matched to the decor. We cut an opening for a drop-in sink and a hob. All cutout edges were given a double layer of silicone. The job took 3 hours. A month later, the client confirmed that everything was still holding up well and the joint was hardly visible. Takeaway: if you don’t adjust for the actual wall geometry, even a perfectly straight countertop will end up with gaps (compatible with IKEA, Nobilia, BRW and similar).

Can a laminate countertop be joined without a visible seam?
A fully invisible seam isn’t possible, but with Eurobolts and colour-matched silicone the joint looks neat and is barely noticeable.
Which edging is best?
For edges against the wall, melamine strip is enough. For exposed edges (end of countertop, side near the fridge), aluminium profile is the better option — it lasts longer.
Do you remove the old countertop?
Yes, removal is included if needed. Just mention it when booking.
My countertop has swollen near the sink — can it be repaired?
If the swelling is small, it can be dried out and filled with epoxy. If the chipboard is damaged beyond that, the affected section or the whole countertop will need to be replaced.
Do you supply the countertop?
No, the client buys the countertop. We can advise where to get it and which decor is the most practical.
How long does installation take?
A straight countertop without cutouts — 1.5–2 hours. A corner countertop with sink and hob cutouts — 3–4 hours.
