Wall kitchen cabinet installation

A wall unit holds plates, pans and food, so it puts a big load on the wall. The fixings are chosen for the wall: different plugs hold in concrete and in brick, and plasterboard needs reinforcing or fixing to the studs. Units hang on a mounting rail or on adjustable hanging brackets.

The price is per unit. Corner units and units above the cooker hood need fitting to size.

What the installation covers

• assembling the carcass and shelves;
• marking the fixing line at a height that suits the worktop and hood;
• fitting the rail or brackets with plugs suited to the wall;
• hanging, levelling and bolting it to the neighbouring units;
• fitting the doors and adjusting the hinges.

Distance from the worktop and hob

Wall units usually hang so there is comfortable working space between the worktop and the bottom of the unit. Above the hob, the distance set by the hood and hob manufacturers applies. Before drilling, the tradesperson checks the wall for cables.

What to prepare

The units with their doors and the rail or brackets. Give the number of units and the wall type and add a photo. If the kitchen has an integrated hood, mention it, as the unit above needs fitting to it.
