Base kitchen cabinet installation

A base unit carries the worktop, sink, hob or dishwasher, so it has to stand perfectly level and flush with its neighbours. Installation covers assembling the carcass, setting the legs, joining it to the other units and fitting it around the pipes and cables coming out of the wall.

The price is per unit. Sink units and corner units take more work than standard ones.

What the installation covers

• assembling the carcass, drawers or shelves;
• setting and levelling the legs;
• bolting it to the neighbouring units;
• cutting holes in the back or base for pipes and cables;
• fitting doors and handles and adjusting the hinges.

Levels and uneven floors

Floors in blocks of flats can be several millimetres out over the length of a kitchen. Base units are levelled on their legs, not with packers, so the worktop lies flat. It is best to have the floor laid before base units go in.

What to prepare

The flat-packed units with their doors and handles. Give the number and type of units (sink, corner, oven housing) in the request and add a photo of the wall with the water and power points.
