Lawn Mowing in Warsaw

Lawn overgrown, grass up to your knees, and the mower is broken — or you simply do not have one? A detached house on the outskirts, a townhouse in Wilanow, or a plot in Bródno — it does not matter. Once the grass gets too tall, a regular electric mower will not cut it. We arrive with our own equipment: petrol mower, strimmer, collection bags. We mow, collect, and haul away.

How much does it cost and what affects the price

The cost of mowing depends on the area, grass height, and terrain. A level 100 m² lawn with ankle-high grass is one thing. A neglected 500 m² plot with bumps, scrub, and rubbish hidden in the grass is another. If the grass is over 30 cm, a double pass is needed: first a strimmer to take down the top layer, then the mower to level it. Removal of cut grass is charged separately. Current prices are in the table below.

Serviceminmax
Lawn mowing 150 zł/h300 zł/h
Hedge trimming 80 zł/h150 zł/h
Tree / branch trimming 150 zł2000 zł
Leaf raking 50 zł/h100 zł/h

How the on-site work goes

  1. You send a photo of the plot — the technician estimates the area, grass height, and terrain difficulty, and quotes an approximate price.
  2. We agree on a date — usually within 1-2 days.
  3. On site, the technician inspects the area: checking for stones, wire, branches, or rubbish in the grass — any of these can damage equipment.
  4. If the grass is tall — we start with a strimmer to take down the top layer. This prevents the mower from bogging down.
  5. Main mowing with the mower at a set cutting height. Standard is 4-5 cm, but this can be discussed.
  6. Edges are trimmed with the strimmer: along fences, kerbs, trees, and flower beds — wherever the mower cannot reach.
  7. We collect the cut grass and bag it if needed. We remove it or leave it — your call.

Common mistakes when mowing a lawn

  • Cutting a neglected lawn straight to the minimum height — the grass turns yellow and struggles. Rule of thumb: never remove more than a third of the height in one go.
  • Mowing wet grass — it clumps, clogs the mower, and lies unevenly.
  • Not checking the area before mowing — a stone or piece of wire in the grass can break the mower blade.
  • Leaving a thick layer of clippings on the lawn — the grass underneath sweats and develops bare patches.
  • Mowing in the midday heat — stressful for the lawn. Morning or evening is better.
  • Skipping the edge trim — the lawn looks mowed but fence lines and kerbs are still wild.
  • Mowing too infrequently — the grass overgrows, the root system weakens, and weeds take over.

What to prepare before the technician arrives

  • Clear the lawn of toys, garden furniture, hoses, and other objects.
  • Check for stones, broken glass, or wire in the grass — these can damage equipment.
  • If there are hidden features (manholes, kerb stones, irrigation pipes) — mark them or let the technician know.
  • Ensure access to the plot: gate, intercom code, parking for the van with equipment.
  • If grass removal is needed — let us know in advance.
  • Decide what lawn height you want after mowing.
  • If there is a dog on the property — pick up after it beforehand.
  • Let us know about flower beds to avoid or young trees with thin trunks.
  • Make sure the gate is wide enough for the mower to pass through.
  • If the plot has not been mowed for a long time (grass over 50 cm) — tell the technician so they bring heavy-duty equipment.

A real case from Warsaw

A townhouse owner in the Wesola district called at the start of summer — a 200 m² plot that had not been mowed since autumn. The grass had grown to 40 cm, with thistle poking through in places. The client’s regular electric mower simply stalled. The technician arrived with a petrol strimmer and a professional mower. First he went over the entire plot with the strimmer, taking down the top layer. He found two stones and a piece of rebar in the grass — good thing he spotted them before the mower. Then he mowed with the machine at a 5 cm height. Edges along the fence and around the trees were finished with the strimmer. The clippings filled 8 bags. The whole job took 3 hours. The client booked regular fortnightly mowing — the lawn now stays neat and never gets out of control.

Frequently asked questions

How often should a lawn be mowed?

During the season (April-October) — once every 1-2 weeks. In spring grass grows faster; in summer heat it slows down. In autumn — every 2-3 weeks.

Do you bring your own mower?

Yes, we arrive with full equipment: mower, strimmer, collection bags. You do not need to provide anything.

Can you mow wet grass?

It is best to avoid it. Wet grass clumps, clogs the mower, and lies unevenly. Better to wait until it dries.

What do you do with the cut grass?

We bag it up. We can remove it for an extra charge or leave it for your compost.

Do you cut weeds and very tall grass?

Yes. For tall and neglected grass we use a powerful petrol strimmer. We take down the top layer first, then finish with the mower.

Do you work outside Warsaw?

Yes, we travel to the suburbs. The travel charge outside Warsaw is agreed individually.

Can I book regular mowing?

Yes, many clients book mowing every 1-2 weeks for the whole season. It works out cheaper and the lawn always looks good.

Do you trim the edges?

Always. After the main mow we trim along fences, kerbs, trees, and flower beds with a strimmer.

Can I order mowing only, without collecting the grass?

Yes, fine clippings can be left on the lawn as mulch. But larger clumps are best removed.

What time of year do you mow?

April to October is the main season. The last mow is before the first frosts, usually late October.
