Important: any work involving electricity requires strict safety precautions. Connecting an LED strip to a 230 V mains supply via a transformer is electrical installation work. How much does it cost and what affects the price

The cost of installation depends on the strip length, routing method, and complexity of the connection. If wall chasing or concealed cable runs are needed, the price will be higher than a straightforward surface-mount in a ready profile. The transformer (power supply) is a separate item — it must be matched to the strip’s wattage with a 15–20% margin. Fixings and small consumables are included in the labour cost. How the on-site work goes

1. You send a photo of where you want the lighting — via messenger or email.
2. The technician clarifies: strip type (warm/cool/RGB), length, whether a dimmer or remote is needed.
3. We agree on a time — usually same-day or next-day.
4. On site, the technician marks out the route, identifies the connection point and transformer location.
5. Profile installation (if needed), strip adhesion, soldering or connectors at joints.
6. Transformer connection to the mains, brightness and uniformity check.
7. Clean-up and a brief walk-through on using the dimmer or remote.

• Buying a transformer without a power margin — the strip flickers or the transformer overheats and fails.
• Sticking the strip directly to a surface without an aluminium profile — within six months the adhesive gives way and the strip sags.

• Connecting more than 5 metres of strip in series — the last metre glows dimly due to voltage drop.

Not mandatory, but highly recommended. The profile dissipates heat, extends the strip’s lifespan, and delivers even light through the diffuser.

Can the strip be connected to a regular socket?
Yes, via a 230 V to 12/24 V transformer. The technician will mount the transformer out of sight and connect it to the nearest power point.

How much strip can one transformer power?
It depends on the wattage. For example, a 14 W/m strip x 5 m = 70 W — you need a transformer of at least 85 W (with a 20% margin).
