Is a cabinet door dropping, rubbing against the one beside it, or not shutting fully? In most cases the hinge itself is fine — it just needs adjusting. Furniture hinges are made to handle thousands of opening and closing cycles, but with time the adjustment screws loosen up, especially in cabinets packed with heavier things. We adjust hinges on all kinds of cabinet furniture across Warsaw: kitchen fronts, bedroom wardrobes, bathroom vanities, dressers. We come with a full set of screwdrivers and bits, set each door in three planes, and test how it works.
How much does hinge adjustment cost

The price depends on how many doors there are and what state the hinges are in. One door with two hinges is a fast fix. A kitchen with 15 fronts and hinges that have gone loose means a full service visit. Cost also depends on whether worn hinges have to be replaced, whether there are soft-close dampers, and whether the cup fixing in the chipboard needs to be reinforced. Fixings included with the furniture are covered. You can see the current rates in the table below.
| Service | min | max |
|---|---|---|
| Hinge adjustment | 60 zł/pc | 120 zł/pc |
| Furniture repair | 150 zł | 350 zł |
| Hinge replacement | 60 zł/pc | 120 zł/pc |
How the on-site adjustment works

- You tell us what is happening — sagging, misalignment, uneven gap, squeaking — and send a photo if that is easy.
- The technician checks the scope: whether it is one door or all fronts, and whether any hinges need replacing.
- We set a date. We can often come the same day or the next.
- On site the technician checks every hinge: play in the cup, condition of the mounting plate, and how the soft-close spring works.
- The adjustment is made using three screws: vertical (up-down), horizontal (closer/further from carcase), depth (door pressure). Each one is turned with a PZ2 bit.
- After adjusting, we check the result: gaps match at the top and bottom, the door does not rub its neighbour, and the soft-close pulls in smoothly.
- If we find a pulled-out cup or a cracked plate, we can replace it on the spot or note the issue for ordering the part.
Common mistakes when adjusting hinges yourself

- Turning the wrong screw — a hinge has three or four adjustment points, and if you do not know which one does what, you can easily make it worse.
- Using a regular screwdriver instead of PZ2 — this rounds off the screw head and then adjustment becomes impossible.
- Tightening only one of the two hinges — the door looks straight at the top but leans at the bottom.
- Skipping the mounting plate on the side panel — the screw has come loose and the plate has shifted out of place.
- Overlooking stripped holes in chipboard — if the hinge cup is wobbling, adjusting it achieves nothing.
- Spraying WD-40 — that is a solvent, not a lubricant. The squeak comes back within a week.
- Forgetting about door weight — a heavy front with a mirror needs reinforced hinges.
What to prepare before the technician arrives

- Point out which doors are causing trouble.
- Empty the affected cabinet — a shelf full of items makes the door drop even more.
- If you know the furniture brand (IKEA, BRW, Agata), let us know beforehand.
- Check whether the doors still close at all or whether the hinge has pulled out.
- Make sure there is access to the furniture — move chairs, boxes, or anything that blocks the door from opening fully.
- Give the intercom code and parking details.
- If the issue is in the kitchen, clear the worktop near the cabinets.
- Keep pets in a separate room.
- Count the problematic doors — that lets the technician give an exact time estimate.
- Take a close-up photo of the hinge and send it when booking.
A real case from Warsaw

A client in the Wola district called about one upper kitchen cabinet door that had dropped. After inspection, it turned out the issue was bigger: the kitchen had 12 fronts, and eight of them had hinges that had not been adjusted in five years. The upper cabinets had Blum soft-close hinges; the lower ones used budget GTV hinges. On two fronts the cups had already started to wobble — the chipboard had swollen from moisture. The technician packed the holes with PVA glue mixed with sawdust, waited 15 minutes for it to set, and then re-drove the cups. All 24 hinges were adjusted in three planes — the gaps became even and the fronts lined up properly. Two GTV hinges with broken springs were replaced. The work took about 90 minutes. The client said the kitchen looked like new.
Frequently asked questions
What hinges do you adjust?
Any furniture hinge: Blum, Hettich, GTV, Gamet, IKEA, unbranded — the adjustment method is the same.
What is included in the price?
The technician’s labour and tools. Fixings from the furniture kit are included. Hinge replacement and additional fasteners are charged separately.
How long does adjustment take?
One or two doors — 15 to 20 minutes. A full kitchen (10-15 fronts) — around an hour.
Can a hinge be adjusted if the hole is stripped?
If the hole is only a little loose, we fill it, let it set, and re-drive it. If the chipboard is badly damaged, a repair plate is required.
Do you only work on kitchens?
No, we adjust hinges on all cabinet furniture: wardrobes, dressers, TV units, bathroom cabinets, bookcases.
The hinge squeaks — does it need replacing?
Not always. Proper lubrication is often enough. If the mechanism is worn out, then it needs replacement.
Do you work on weekends?
Yes, Saturdays and Sundays are normal working days. Book ahead.
