Baseboard installation in Warsaw — a neat finishing touch
13.02.2026Baseboard installation in Warsaw — a neat finishing touch
A skirting board is the small detail that finishes a room. Without it, expansion gaps at the walls are visible, underlay edges stick out, and dust collects in the cracks. PVC, MDF, solid wood — each has its own fixing method and its own pitfalls. We fit skirting boards across Warsaw, often in the same visit as the floor installation.

How the installation works
- Measuring the perimeter, counting corners (internal and external) and joints.
- Cutting skirting boards at 45° for mitred joints (MDF/wood) or selecting connectors (PVC).
- Fixing to the wall: plugs and screws (concrete/brick), screws (plasterboard), or adhesive (flat walls).
- Fitting corner and joining pieces.
- Running cables through the cable channel (if present).
- Checking for a flush fit — no gaps allowed.
Common mistakes
- Gluing skirting to an uneven wall — it falls off within a month, leaving adhesive marks.
- Cutting without a mitre box — joints don’t meet cleanly, gaps show.
- Pressing too hard against the floor — when laminate expands the skirting cracks.
- Forgetting the cable channel — later, wires have to run on the outside.
- PVC skirting on a hardwood floor — looks cheap and clashes stylistically.
What to prepare
- Buy skirting boards and accessories (corners, end caps, connectors) — with a 5 % margin.
- The floor must be laid before skirting installation.
- Move furniture at least 30 cm from the walls.
- If you want to hide cables — have them ready in advance.
A real case from Warsaw
A flat in Praga-Południe, 60 m² — after laying the laminate the technician fitted white MDF skirting boards around the entire perimeter. 48 linear metres, 12 internal corners, 4 external. All done in three hours. The owners chose skirting with a cable channel — the internet and aerial cables disappeared inside. Clean and tidy.
Frequently asked questions
Which skirting is better — PVC or MDF?
PVC is cheaper and easier to fit, but looks simpler. MDF is more expensive, looks better, but is not water-resistant. For a bathroom — PVC or polyurethane only.
Can skirting be fitted without drilling?
Yes, with construction adhesive — but only on flat walls. On uneven walls the adhesive won’t hold.
Does skirting attach to the wall or the floor?
Always to the wall. It must never be fixed to the floor — laminate needs to expand freely beneath it.
