Glue-down flooring installation in Warsaw — solid hold, no creaking

Gluing is the safest way to secure a floor covering. Linoleum, vinyl tiles, engineered hardwood — once bonded to the screed, they hold firm, do not creak, and do not move around. This option costs more than a floating installation, but it holds up longer. We install glued flooring across Warsaw — from Wola to Wawer.

Glue-down installation cost

The cost is based on the flooring material, the adhesive, and the total area. You can find current rates in the table. The adhesive is most often bought by the client (the technician will recommend the brand and amount).

How the glue-down process works

  1. The substrate is inspected with a level — for glue-down, the variance must not exceed 2 mm over 2 m.
  2. The screed is primed to improve adhesion.
  3. Adhesive is applied with a notched trowel onto the screed (not onto the flooring).
  4. The flooring is placed and pressed in — sheet material is rolled, tiles are tapped into place.
  5. Any excess adhesive is cleaned off right away — after it dries, removing it is very difficult.
  6. The floor is left to cure for 24–48 hours — no walking on it during this period.

Common mistakes

  • Using too much adhesive — it pushes up through the joints and marks the surface.
  • Walking on newly laid flooring — the pieces shift before the adhesive cures.
  • Skipping primer on the screed — the bond is weaker, and the floor starts lifting after a year.
  • Choosing the wrong adhesive — each flooring type has its own recommended product.
  • Gluing onto a damp screed — the adhesive will not hold, and mould forms underneath.

What to prepare

  • Screed flat, dry, and primed.
  • Flooring kept in the flat for at least 24 hours to acclimatise.
  • Adhesive and primer bought in advance (confirm the brand with the technician).
  • The room emptied of furniture.
  • After installation — no foot traffic for 24–48 hours.

A real case from Warsaw

A flat in Żoliborz, living room 28 m². The owner picked 14 mm engineered hardwood and chose to glue it instead of laying it as a floating floor to get rid of creaking. The technician primed the screed, and on the following day installed the boards with two-component adhesive. The furniture was moved back after 48 hours. The floor is quiet and completely solid (compatible with Quick-Step, Egger, Kronopol and similar).

Frequently asked questions

When is glue-down better than floating?

When quiet matters (no creaking), over underfloor heating (better heat transfer), and in large rooms (no expansion joints required).

Can a glued floor be removed later?

Yes, but it takes more work and more time than taking up a floating floor. The covering is often damaged during removal.
