Floor panel removal: what the job involves
After a leak the laminate has swollen at the joints, the old floor is making way for tiles or boards, or the screed underneath needs checking. Laminate removal covers taking off the skirting, unclipping the boards, removing the underlay and membrane, and stacking it all in one place for disposal.
The price is per square metre. Waste removal is agreed separately.
What removal covers
- taking off skirting boards and threshold strips;
- unclipping the boards from the wall, row by row;
- removing the underlay and vapour membrane;
- sweeping the subfloor;
- bundling the boards or bagging them.
Keeping boards for reuse
Click laminate can be taken up carefully enough to lay again, but it takes longer. Glued laminate, or boards swollen by water, usually break at the joints and go in the skip. Say in the request whether you want to keep them.
What to prepare
An empty room, the floor area and photos. If the laminate runs under a built-in wardrobe or kitchen units, mention it, since it gets cut at the furniture. Decide whether the skirting goes back.

What is under the laminate?
Usually screed, sometimes old boards or tiles. Once it is up you can see whether the base suits a new floor.
How long does a room take?
