How the installation works
- The substrate is checked — it must be clean, dry, and level.
- The carpet is unrolled and left for several hours to flatten out.
- A rough cut is made with a 5–10 cm margin all round.
- Fixing: loose-lay (small rooms), double-sided tape around the perimeter, or adhesive over the full area.
- Final trimming at walls, thresholds, and pipes.
- Skirting boards and threshold strips are fitted.
Common mistakes
- Not letting the carpet acclimatise — after unrolling it must adjust to the room temperature, otherwise it will shrink after cutting.
- Cutting flush to the walls — humidity changes can cause the carpet to pull back and expose the floor.
- Laying on an uneven substrate — bumps show through and the carpet wears faster.
- Using general-purpose adhesive instead of carpet adhesive — the carpet lifts and bubbles form.
