Got a new dishwasher and think hooking it up is a five-minute job? In reality, there are three connections to deal with (water supply, drain, power), plus levelling and a leak test. If your kitchen is already installed and the dishwasher is still sitting boxed up in the hallway, getting a professional in will save you half a day and plenty of hassle. How much does it cost and what affects the price
The price of dishwasher connection depends on a few things: whether there is already a cold-water valve with a 3/4″ thread, whether the drain is ready (a siphon with a side spigot or a separate standpipe), and whether there is an earthed 16A socket close to where the appliance will stand. If all of that is already there, the job takes around an hour. If additional plumbing or electrical work is required, the visit will take more time and the price will be higher. How the on-site work goes
- You send a photo of the kitchen and the dishwasher opening — the technician checks the setup and gives a rough price.
- We set a time — often for the same day or the next day.
- At the flat, the technician checks for a cold-water valve with a 3/4″ thread, an available drain outlet on the siphon or a separate standpipe, and an earthed 16A socket.
- We hook up the water supply using a tee fitting or straight to the valve. If there is no valve, we fit one.
- We attach the drain hose to the siphon under the sink or to the waste pipe — always with an air gap or check valve.
- We connect the power and test the earthing — without it the appliance can shock you.
- We level the dishwasher with the adjustable feet and make sure the door opens properly without catching the cabinets.
- We run a test cycle — checking each connection for leaks and confirming that filling and draining work properly.
Common mistakes when connecting a dishwasher (and how to avoid them)
- Hooking it up to hot water instead of cold — most dishwashers are made to run on cold water only.
- Skipping a check valve on the drain — dirty water from the sewer can flow back into the machine.
- Leaving the drain hose lying flat on the floor — the machine drains badly, and unpleasant smells start appearing.
- Using an extension lead without earthing — risk of electric shock, especially on a wet kitchen floor.
- Not checking the Aquastop hose length — it is shorter than a standard hose and might not reach the valve.
- Forgetting to leave a gap between the machine and the worktop — the door will not open all the way.
- Not levelling the machine — it shakes, moves, and gets noisy while running.
- Connecting the drain straight into the sewer pipe without a trap — sewer smells come into the kitchen.
What to prepare before the technician arrives
- Unbox the dishwasher and remove the transport bolts (usually at the back, as shown in the manual).
- Clear the space under the worktop or beside the sink — the technician needs access to the pipework.
- Check if there is a cold-water valve with a 3/4″ thread — most often under the sink.
- Make sure the siphon has a spare outlet for the drain (or tell the technician beforehand).
- Check the socket: it must be earthed, 16A, and not placed behind the dishwasher.
- If there is no socket — let us know so the technician brings what is needed to install one.
- Keep the dishwasher manual ready — it shows the connection requirements.

A real case from Warsaw
A customer in the Mokotow district bought a freestanding 60 cm Bosch dishwasher. The space in the kitchen was prepared, but the siphon under the sink had no side outlet for the drain hose. Can I connect a dishwasher myself?
In theory yes, if all the connections are already prepared. But if you do not have hands-on experience with plumbing and electrics, it is safer to call a professional. One poor connection can lead to leaks and electric shock.
Is a grounded socket mandatory?
Yes. A dishwasher works with water and electricity at the same time. Without earthing, the risk of electric shock is real.
Is the Aquastop hose essential?
If the appliance comes with an Aquastop hose, use that one. It helps prevent flooding if the hose fails. Do not replace it with a standard hose.
What is included in the connection price?

How long does the connection take?
