Old flooring removal in Warsaw — linoleum, carpet, tiles

A new floor needs a clean substrate. Old linoleum, carpet, PVC sheet, or even ceramic tiles — all of it has to come up and the screed has to be prepared. Every type strips differently: carpet is often glued, linoleum leaves a layer of adhesive, tiles need a demolition hammer. We remove any floor covering across Warsaw — arriving with tools and waste bags.

Removal cost

Prices depend on the covering type and the area. Current rates are in the table. Construction waste disposal is a separate service.

What we remove

  • Linoleum (including mastic-glued — the most labour-intensive type).
  • Carpet (comes up fast if loose-laid; glued-down takes longer).
  • PVC sheeting and vinyl tiles.
  • Old underlay and adhesive residue.
  • Ceramic tiles (with a demolition hammer).

How the work goes

  1. Inspection: we identify the covering type and how it is bonded to the substrate.
  2. Skirting boards are removed (if they are in the way).
  3. The covering is cut or levered, rolled up or taken off in sections.
  4. Adhesive residue is scraped or sanded off.
  5. The screed is checked for cracks and moisture.
  6. Waste is bagged up.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving old adhesive on the screed — the new floor goes down unevenly.
  • Laying new linoleum over old — bumps, bubbles, smell.
  • Chipping tiles without protecting the screed — damages the substrate, which then needs levelling.
  • Not ventilating — stripping old floors can produce dust and adhesive fumes.

What to prepare

  • Clear furniture from the room.
  • Provide ventilation — open the windows.
  • Have heavy-duty waste bags ready (or the technician can bring his own for a fee).
  • Agree on who disposes of the waste.

A real case from Warsaw

A flat in Bemowo, 55 m² — old linoleum on mastic from the 1990s. It came up hard — the adhesive had bonded into the screed. The technician worked with a scraper and a floor grinder for a full day. But the screed underneath turned out to be in good shape — the new vinyl flooring went down perfectly.

Frequently asked questions

How long does removal take?
Loose-laid carpet — 30 minutes per room. Mastic-glued linoleum — a full day for an apartment. Tiles — depends on the area and thickness.

Can I lay a new floor over the old one?
In rare cases yes (e.g., new linoleum over old if it is flat). But usually it is better to strip — the result will be flatter and last longer.
