How the installation works

1. We check the subfloor — the screed needs to be level (up to 2 mm/m) and dry.
2. The sheeting is rolled out and left for 24 hours to settle to room conditions.
3. A rough trim is done around the perimeter with a small margin.
4. Fixing: loose-lay (up to 20 m²), double-sided tape, or adhesive across the full area.
5. The surface is rolled with a heavy roller to force out trapped air.
6. Final trimming is done at the walls and the skirting boards are fitted.

Common mistakes

• Laying it without acclimatising first — the sheet creases and forms waves.
• Laying on an uneven screed — every hump and dip shows through the PVC.
• Using too little adhesive — the edges start lifting and water gets underneath.
• Joining two sheets without welding — the seam opens up and collects dirt.

What to prepare

• Screed level and fully dry.
• Flooring delivered and rolled out at least 24 hours beforehand.
• Room emptied.
• Skirting boards ready for fitting.

A real case from Warsaw

A 12 m² kitchen in Targówek. The owner wanted a floor that looks like tile but stays warm underfoot and is not slippery. She picked commercial-grade 2 mm PVC with a stone finish. The technician glued it down in three hours — dead flat, without a single bubble. What is the difference between PVC and linoleum?

Modern linoleum and PVC are basically the same material. The difference is mostly in the name. Good-quality PVC is thicker (2–3 mm), harder-wearing, and lasts longer.

Can it go in a bathroom?

Yes. PVC is waterproof. The main thing is sealing the seams properly.

How long does it last?
