A shower tray puts up with water every day, shifting temperatures, and constant use. After some years, cracks start to show, enamel begins to chip, and the seals stop holding properly. If you ignore it, water can get into the subfloor and start damaging the structure underneath. Our technicians replace shower trays all over Warsaw — quickly, neatly, and with a full waterproofing guarantee. Send us a message or call us, and we’ll book a visit for a time that suits you.
How much does it cost and what affects the price
Shower tray replacement starts from 400 PLN for labour. That includes removing the old tray, getting the base ready, and fitting the new one. Materials are billed separately — the tray itself, trap, sealant, and waterproofing tape are bought by the client or supplied by us at retail price. Standard fixings and consumables are included in the service cost.
The cost can go up if the drain point has to be moved, part of the waste pipe needs replacement, or the floor has to be levelled for the new tray. Removal of construction waste and the old tray is priced separately. The technician will give you an exact quote after seeing the job on site — for an initial estimate, just send us a photo of your bathroom via messenger.
How the work is carried out on site
1. Inspection and assessment. The technician comes to the property, checks the shower area, and looks over the condition of the base, drain, and pipework. Then a list of needed materials is prepared.
2. Shutting off the water supply. Before starting, we shut off the water supply to the shower and drain off any water left in the pipes.
3. Removing the old tray. We carefully take out the old tray, disconnect the trap, and clear away any old sealant and adhesive from the base.
4. Preparing the base. We level the surface and repair the screed if needed. The slope is checked so water runs properly toward the drain point.
5. Installing the new tray. The new tray is set onto the prepared base, the trap is connected to the waste pipe, and all joints are checked to make sure they are tight.
6. Sealing the joints. Every edge where the tray meets the walls is sealed with sanitary silicone. Waterproofing tape is added in the corners for extra protection.
7. Testing and clean-up. We test the drain, inspect each joint for leaks, then tidy the work area and remove all packaging.
Common mistakes clients make (and how to avoid them)
1. Buying a tray without measuring the drain position. The drain hole sits in different places depending on the model. If you do not measure the exact distance from the wall to the centre of the drain outlet, the plumbing will have to be redone. Before buying, take a photo of the underside of the old tray and measure from the wall to the drain centre.
2. Skimping on the trap. A low-cost plastic trap lasts two to three years before it begins to leak. Go for models with a stainless-steel grate and a dependable seal — they cost 30–50 PLN more but can last three times longer.
3. Ignoring the base gradient. If the base is not sloped properly toward the drain, water will collect in the tray. That leads to mould and unpleasant smells.
4. Using general-purpose silicone instead of sanitary grade. Standard silicone has no fungicide additives and will get black mould within months. Always use proper sanitary sealant made for bathrooms.
5. No access panel for the trap. Some clients box in the tray with concrete and leave no inspection hatch. If there is a blockage or a leak, reaching the trap without breaking the structure becomes impossible. Always allow for inspection access.
6. Fitting on an uneven base. A tray installed on an uneven floor flexes under weight, cracks, and loses its seal around the edges. The base needs to be levelled before fitting.
7. Using the shower immediately after installation. Silicone reaches full strength after 24 hours. If you use the shower earlier, the sealant will not cure as it should and the joints will begin letting water through.
What to prepare before the technician arrives
1. Clear the way to the shower area — remove toiletries, towels, and bath mats.
2. Make sure the new tray has already been delivered and is inside the flat.
3. Check that you have a new trap that matches the chosen tray.
4. Buy sanitary silicone sealant (white or clear — as you prefer).
5. Have waterproofing tape for the corners ready if the technician has advised it.
6. Know where the water shut-off valve is in your flat.
7. Leave space for the old tray and construction debris.
8. Let the neighbours downstairs know about the planned work — just in case.
9. Make sure there is a free power socket for the technician’s tools.
10. If you have any preferences about height or positioning, discuss them in advance by phone.
A real case from Warsaw
Last month, a couple from the Ochota district got in touch with us about ongoing dampness in their bathroom. During the inspection, it turned out the acrylic tray fitted seven years earlier had cracked across the base. Water had been getting under the tray and collecting on the concrete substrate. The tiles around the shower area had started coming away from the wall because of constant moisture. Our technician removed the old tray and found the trap also had to be replaced — the plastic had gone brittle. The base was dried, the screed repaired, and a coat of liquid waterproofing was applied. We fitted a new steel enamelled tray measuring 90×90 cm on reinforced legs. A good dry-seal trap was connected, and all joints were sealed with sanitary silicone. By the next day, the couple were already using the shower again. Two weeks later we checked in — no leaks at all, and the dampness had disappeared completely. The whole job took about four and a half hours, including drying time and clean-up.
Frequently asked questions

How long does a shower tray replacement take?
The job usually takes 3–5 hours, depending on how difficult the removal is and what condition the base is in. If the screed has to be levelled, it may need an extra day to dry.
Which tray is better — acrylic or steel?
Steel enamelled trays are tougher and last longer, but they can be noisy when water hits them. Acrylic trays feel warmer and are quieter, but they are less resistant to mechanical damage. We advise steel models with a sound-deadening underlay.
Do I need to replace the trap when changing the tray?
We highly recommend replacing the trap at the same time. The old trap may not match the new tray, and after several years of use its condition is often far from good.
Can I install a tray of a different size?
Yes, but that means extra work to adjust the base and possibly move the drain point. The cost of this is priced individually after inspection.
Do you work at weekends?
Yes, we work seven days a week across Warsaw and nearby areas. Book through messenger or by phone.
What happens if a hidden problem is found during the work?
The technician will contact you straight away, explain what has come up, and give you options with prices. No extra work beyond the agreed scope will be done without your approval.
Do you provide a guarantee on the work?
Yes, all finished work is covered by a guarantee. If an issue appears during the guarantee period because of our workmanship, we will put it right free of charge.
Do I need to buy materials myself?
You can buy the materials yourself using the technician’s list, or ask us to bring everything needed. Material prices are the same either way — at retail price.
