Bulb and Halogen Replacement in Warsaw — Fast, Safe, at Any Height

Warszawa · 22.02.2026 · ≈ 5 min read

A blown bulb in a ceiling spotlight, a bathroom halogen that has gone weak or begun to flicker, and the fitting sits too high to reach without a ladder — know the feeling? It looks minor, but with 3-metre ceilings, recessed fittings or halogen lamps, calling a handyman is often easier than balancing on a stool. We cover all of Warsaw: Srodmiescie, Bemowo, Kabaty — and we come equipped with a range of bulbs and a proper ladder.

How much does it cost and what affects the price

The price is based on how many bulbs need changing, what kind of fitting you have and how high the ceiling is. A simple unscrew-and-fit job is one situation. If the bulb is a halogen set into a suspended ceiling or the shade has to come apart, the work takes longer. The client provides the bulbs, though we can advise on the right type and base. Up-to-date prices for all electrical services are listed in the table below.

What we do

How the replacement works — step by step

  1. We switch off the lighting circuit at the consumer unit — safety comes first.
  2. Set up the ladder and make sure access to the fitting is stable.
  3. Take out the old bulb: unscrew it, release it from spring clips or remove the shade.
  4. Check the lamp holder for melting or oxidised contacts.
  5. Install the new bulb and make sure it sits securely.
  6. Turn the breaker back on and test — the bulb should shine steadily without flickering.
  7. If several bulbs need replacing, we go through each point one by one.

Common mistakes (and how to avoid them)

Warning: electrical work, even something as basic as changing a bulb, means dealing with live fittings and working at height. Halogens reach 250 °C. Don’t take chances — call a professional, especially when there are many fittings or the ceilings are high.

What to prepare before the technician arrives

A real case from Warsaw

A client in Srodmiescie asked us to change 12 halogen GU10 bulbs in recessed spotlights in the kitchen and hallway. The ceilings were stretch, 2.7 m high. Half the bulbs were blown; the rest were only giving off a weak light. During inspection we found that two lamp holders had scorched contacts — the bulb would fit in but would not come on. The technician replaced all 12 with LED GU10 bulbs (same brightness, half the energy consumption) and cleaned the contacts in the two faulty holders. The entire job took 40 minutes. The client said the kitchen looked clearly brighter and the electricity bill for the month went down. Conclusion: if halogens keep blowing, moving to LED pays back fast (compatible with Legrand, Schneider Electric, ABB and similar).

Frequently asked questions

Can I replace a halogen bulb with LED?

Yes, in most cases. The main thing is to match the base and check whether the transformer is compatible. If the old transformer does not work with LED, we replace that as well.

Does the technician bring bulbs?

As standard, the client provides the bulbs. If needed, we can source and bring them, but that has to be arranged in advance.

How long does it take to replace one bulb?

A simple replacement takes 3–5 minutes. If the fitting has to be dismantled or the contacts need cleaning — up to 15 minutes.

Why does a bulb burn out too quickly?

Usual causes are voltage spikes, poor contact in the holder, an incompatible transformer, or overheating caused by poor ventilation in the fitting.

What is included in the price?

The technician’s labour and travel within Warsaw. Bulbs and spare parts (holders, transformers) are charged separately.

Do you replace bulbs in offices and commercial premises?

Yes, we work in private apartments as well as commercial properties.
