New Electrical Point Installation in Warsaw — Socket or Switch Where You Need It
Need a socket next to the desk, a switch by the room entrance, or an outlet for a boiler? That’s a straightforward job for an electrician. Installing a new electrical point means making a fresh connection from zero: cutting a chase in the wall, pulling in cable, setting a back box, and fitting a socket or switch. In Bielany and Targowek, older flats often still have only 2–3 sockets in a room — nowhere near enough for how people live now.
What the cost includes
The cost is based on the chase length, the wall material (plasterboard, brick, concrete), and how many points need to be installed. A short section in plasterboard costs one amount; a long chase in concrete costs more. Labour includes wall chasing, laying the cable, fitting the back box, installing the socket or switch, and making the connection in the junction box. Materials (cable, back box, socket) are provided by the client. Current rates are shown in the table.

How the work is done
- We agree the exact position of the new point and the cable path from the junction box or an existing circuit.
- We mark out the chase line on the wall.
- We cut the channel and drill the hole for the back box.
- We lay the cable (typically NYM 3×2.5 for sockets, 3×1.5 for lighting).
- We fix the back box in plaster.
- We connect the cable in the junction box or take a branch from an existing circuit.
- We install the socket or switch.
- We fill the chase (skim coat on request).
- Testing: voltage, earth, load test.
Things to consider
- Concrete walls take more time and make more noise when chasing than brick or plasterboard.
- In panel-built blocks, horizontal chases in load-bearing walls are not allowed — only vertical ones.
- Cable must be run strictly vertical and horizontal — never on a diagonal.
- The new point is connected to an existing breaker. If that circuit is already carrying a lot, a separate breaker may be required.
- Once the wall is chased, the channel has to be filled and painted.
Warning: adding a new electrical point is serious electrical work. Bad connections can cause circuit overload, short circuits, or fire. This is a job for a professional.

A real case from Warsaw
A client in Bielany moved his desk to the opposite wall, and the nearest socket ended up behind a wardrobe. Running an extension lead across the room was awkward and not safe. We installed a new point: chased 3 metres from the junction box, ran NYM 3×2.5 cable, and fitted a double earthed socket. We connected it in the junction box and tested it under load. The chase was filled with gypsum filler. The client painted the wall himself. The whole job took around an hour and a half (compatible with Legrand, Schneider Electric, ABB and similar).

Can a new point be added without chasing?
Yes — using surface-mounted trunking. It looks less tidy, but the job is quicker, cleaner, and cheaper. Good for garages, basements, and store rooms.
How many points can you install in one visit?
Usually 2–4 points in a day, depending on the chase length and wall type.
Will the breaker need upgrading?
If the circuit already has a lot on it and you are adding a high-power appliance, possibly. The technician will inspect it and advise.
Who fills the chase?
The technician can do a rough fill. Fine skim and painting are separate or DIY.
Can a new socket be connected from an existing one?
Yes, if the existing circuit can take the load. This daisy-chain method is faster than running cable back to the junction box.
