Glue-down flooring installation in Warsaw — solid hold, no creaking
13.02.2026Glue-down flooring installation in Warsaw — solid hold, no creaking
Gluing is the most secure way to fix a floor covering. Linoleum, vinyl tiles, engineered hardwood — bonded to the screed, they stay put, do not creak, and do not shift. The method costs more than a floating installation but the result lasts longer. We glue flooring across Warsaw — from Wola to Wawer.

How the glue-down process works
- The substrate is checked with a level — glue-down requires no more than 2 mm variance over 2 m.
- The screed is primed for better adhesion.
- Adhesive is spread with a notched trowel on the screed (not on the flooring).
- The flooring is laid and pressed down — sheet material is rolled, tiles are tapped.
- Excess adhesive is removed immediately — once dry it is very hard to clean off.
- The floor cures for 24–48 hours — no foot traffic during this time.
Common mistakes
- Too much adhesive — it squeezes up at joints and stains the surface.
- Walking on freshly laid flooring — elements shift before the adhesive sets.
- Not priming the screed — adhesion is weaker, the floor lifts after a year.
- Wrong adhesive — every flooring type has its own recommended product.
- Gluing on a damp screed — the adhesive won’t bond, mould develops underneath.
What to prepare
- Screed level, dry, and primed.
- Flooring in the flat for at least 24 hours to acclimatise.
- Adhesive and primer purchased (check the brand with the technician).
- Room cleared of furniture.
- After installation — no foot traffic for 24–48 hours.
A real case from Warsaw
A flat in Żoliborz, living room 28 m². The owner chose 14 mm engineered hardwood and decided to glue rather than float it to eliminate creaking. The technician primed the screed and the next day laid the boards on two-component adhesive. Furniture went back in after 48 hours. The floor is silent and rock-solid.
Frequently asked questions
When is glue-down better than floating?
When silence matters (no creaking), over underfloor heating (better heat transfer), and in large rooms (no expansion joints needed).
Can a glued floor be removed later?
Yes, but it is harder and slower than dismantling a floating floor. The covering is often damaged during removal.
