A washbasin is one of the most used fixtures in any bathroom. Proper installation gives you everyday comfort and protects the room from leaks. If a basin is fixed badly or connected carelessly, it soon comes loose, begins to drip, and spoils the wall finish. HandyMan technicians install washbasins in every district of Warsaw — firmly, cleanly, and with a full leak check. Send us a message or give us a call, and we’ll come at a time that works for you.

How much does it cost and what affects the price

Washbasin installation starts from 400 PLN for labour. The price includes mounting the basin to the wall or vanity unit, connecting the trap to the waste pipe, connecting the mixer tap to the hot and cold supply, and sealing all joints. Materials are billed separately — the trap, tap, flexible hoses, fixings, and sealant are bought by the client or ordered through us at retail price. Basic consumables are included.

The cost goes up if wall chasing is required, connection points have to be moved, or part of the pipework must be replaced. Removal of packaging and the old basin is charged separately. The technician will give you the exact price after inspection — for an initial estimate, send a bathroom photo via messenger.

How the work is carried out on site

1. Inspection and marking out. The technician arrives, checks how strong the wall is, and marks the fixing points according to the required height and the pipe layout.

2. Drilling and installing fixings. We drill the wall and fit wall plugs and threaded studs. For hollow walls we use special cavity anchors.

3. Mounting the basin. The basin is set onto the fixings, levelled, and tightened with nuts. We make sure the mounting is firm.

4. Installing the tap. The mixer tap is fitted to the basin, and the flexible hoses are connected to the hot and cold supply.

5. Connecting the trap. The trap is assembled, installed, and connected to the waste outlet. All joints are checked for leaks.

6. Sealing. Sanitary silicone is applied along the joint where the basin meets the wall so water cannot get in.

7. Testing and tidying up. We turn on the water, test the tap and drain, and inspect everything for leaks. The work area is left clean.

Common mistakes clients make (and how to avoid them)

1. Fixing to a weak wall without reinforcement. Plasterboard without proper backing will not hold the weight of a basin plus water. Check the wall material in advance and tell the technician.

2. Incorrect installation height. The standard height for the top edge of a basin is 85 cm from the floor. If there are children or people with reduced mobility at home, agree the height in advance.

3. Saving on the trap. A low-quality trap blocks up fast and starts to leak. Pick models that can be dismantled easily for cleaning.

4. Reusing old flexible hoses. Flexible supply hoses do not last forever. When installing a new basin, we advise changing the hoses too.

5. No sealant at the wall. Without silicone, water gets into the gap between the basin and wall, which leads to mould and damaged finishes.

6. Incorrect basin size. The basin has to suit the width of the vanity unit or recess. Measure the space before you buy.

7. Overtightening the fixings. If the nuts are tightened too much, the ceramic can crack. Tighten them evenly and with care.

What to prepare before the technician arrives

1. Make sure the basin and fittings have arrived at the flat.

2. Clear the bathroom — remove mats, towels, and other items.

3. Check that you have the tap, trap, flexible hoses, and fixings.

4. Buy sanitary silicone if the technician has advised it.

5. Know where the water shut-off valve is.

6. If the wall is plasterboard, tell us beforehand.

7. Let neighbours know about possible drilling noise.

8. Prepare a free power socket for the tools.

9. If you are planning a mirror or cabinet above the basin, mention this in advance.

10. Tell the technician your preferred installation height by phone before the visit.

A real case from Warsaw

Not long ago, a flat owner in the Żoliborz district contacted us about a new wall-hung basin he wanted installed instead of his old pedestal sink. The problem was that the water and waste connection points had been set for a floor-standing model — too low for a wall-hung basin. Our technician moved the waste outlet to the proper height, replaced part of the water pipe, and installed concealed supply connections. The basin was fixed on heavy-duty anchors, and a new chrome trap and single-lever mixer were connected. Every joint was sealed with sanitary silicone. After the leak test, the job was accepted. Three weeks later the client confirmed that everything was working perfectly. The installation took about four hours.

Usually 2–4 hours. If the pipework has to be moved, it may take 5–6 hours.

Can a wall-hung basin be fitted on a plasterboard wall?

Is tap installation included in the price?

Yes, fitting the tap onto the basin is part of the base service price.

What if a hidden problem is found during installation?
