Wall Chasing for Wiring in Warsaw — Neat and to Standard
13.02.2026Wall Chasing for Wiring in Warsaw — Neat and to Standard
A new socket, relocating a switch, running cable for an air conditioner — it all starts with chasing. A chase is a channel cut into the wall where cable is laid and then plastered over. The work is dusty and noisy, but without it concealed wiring is impossible. In Mokotow and Wola we chase walls regularly — during flat renovations, moving electrical points and running new circuits.
Chasing cost
The price is per running metre and depends on the wall material. Plasterboard is fast and quiet. Brick is standard work. Concrete takes longer, is noisier and costs more. Width and depth depend on the number of cables. Current prices are in the table below.

How the work is done
- Marking out: we set the chase route — strictly vertical or horizontal, with clearance from corners, ceiling and floor.
- Wall scan: we use a detector to find existing wiring and pipes so nothing is damaged.
- Chasing: we cut the wall with a wall chaser or angle grinder with a diamond disc and remove the channel with an SDS drill.
- Cleaning: we clear dust and debris from the channel.
- Cable laying: we place the cable in conduit or directly (depending on requirements).
- Filling: we pack the chase with gypsum filler. Final finishing is separate.
Chasing rules
- Chases must run strictly vertically and horizontally — diagonal runs are prohibited.
- In load-bearing walls of panel buildings, horizontal chases are not allowed — only vertical.
- Chase depth must not exceed 25 mm in a standard wall.
- Minimum distance from gas pipes is 40 cm.
- Multiple cables can share a single chase, but the total cross-section must not exceed 40% of the channel area.
Warning: chasing load-bearing structures without permission can compromise the building. If in doubt, consult a professional before starting.
What to prepare
- Decide on the route: where the cable goes from and to.
- Cover furniture and appliances with sheeting — there will be a lot of dust.
- Ensure power is available for tools.
- Warn neighbours about noise — chasing can be heard through walls.
- If you need filling and painting, mention it in advance.
A real case from Warsaw
A client in Wola was renovating his kitchen and wanted to move three sockets lower, below the worktop. The old ones were at eye level — awkward and ugly. We chased vertical channels down from the junction box, ran new cables and fitted the sockets at the right height. We filled the old holes. The job took about three hours for three points, including chasing in brick.
Frequently asked questions
Can I chase a load-bearing wall?
Vertically — usually yes, provided the depth does not exceed 25 mm. Horizontal chases in panel load-bearing walls are not permitted.
How noisy and dusty is it?
Noisy — like an SDS drill. Dusty — very, especially in concrete. We use a vacuum while chasing, but dust cannot be completely avoided.
Who fills the chase after cable laying?
The technician fills it with rough plaster. Final skim and painting are a separate service or DIY.
Can chasing be avoided?
Yes — cable can run in surface-mounted trunking. Less attractive but fast and dust-free.
How many metres of chase can be done in a day?
In brick — up to 15–20 metres. In concrete — 8–12 metres. Depends on depth and the number of turns.
