Junction Box Wiring in Warsaw — Correct and Safe Connections
13.02.2026Junction Box Wiring in Warsaw — Correct and Safe Connections
A junction box is the hub where cables from sockets, switches and lights converge. This is where wires are joined together and distributed across circuits. A poor connection inside the box is behind most electrical problems: overheating, arcing, intermittent contact, short circuits. In older buildings on Targowek and Praga we frequently open junction boxes to find twisted joints wrapped in decades-old tape — a recipe for trouble.
Cost of the work
The price depends on the number of connections in the box and the complexity of the circuit. A simple box with 2–3 cables is standard work. A complex box with two-way switching and several groups takes longer. All electrical service prices are in the table.

How the work is done
- We isolate the circuit and test with an indicator.
- We open the box and identify each cable (supply, sockets, lighting, switches).
- We strip the wires to the correct length.
- We connect: live to live, neutral to neutral, earth to earth — using WAGO connectors, crimp sleeves or solder.
- We verify the circuit logic: the switch must break live, not neutral.
- We pack the wires neatly into the box and close the lid.
- We switch on and test every connected point.
Common problems in junction boxes
- Twisted joints without connectors — they oxidise, overheat and lose contact.
- Aluminium twisted directly to copper — a galvanic couple that accelerates corrosion.
- Live and neutral swapped — the switch breaks neutral while live is permanently on the lamp.
- No earth connection — the PE wire is simply cut or left unconnected.
- Overloaded box — too many cables, connections do not fit, the lid will not close.
Warning: working in a junction box means handling several circuits at once. One wrong connection can knock out multiple points or start a fire. Do not take risks — call an electrician.
What to prepare
- Show us where the junction box is — it is sometimes hidden under wallpaper or plaster.
- Describe the problem: what is not working, what sparks, what comes and goes.
- Provide access to the consumer unit.
- If the box was plastered over during a renovation, let us know.
A real case from Warsaw
A client on Praga Polnoc lost the hallway light and one socket in the living room. The breaker had not tripped. We found the junction box behind a wardrobe — inside were three twisted joints wrapped in tape from the 1980s. One aluminium-to-copper twist had fully oxidised and lost contact. We dismantled all the joints, stripped the cables and reconnected with WAGO connectors (using aluminium paste). Every circuit tested fine — light and socket both working. The client asked us to check a second box in the bedroom — we redid that too. The whole job took about an hour.
Frequently asked questions
Can aluminium and copper be joined?
Only via specialist connectors (WAGO with paste, split bolts, or bolted joints with washers). Direct twisting is prohibited — corrosion will destroy the joint.
Why are twisted joints bad?
A twist without additional treatment (solder, crimp) loosens over time, oxidises and overheats. Codes prohibit untreated twisted joints.
Where is the junction box?
Usually near the ceiling, above a switch or door. Sometimes plastered over and invisible — the technician will locate it with a detector.
How long does the work take?
One box — 20–40 minutes. If old twists need dismantling and rewiring — up to an hour.
Does the box itself need replacing?
If it is cracked, too small for the number of connections or will not close — yes.
