Light Fitting Installation in Warsaw — Chandeliers, Lamps and Spotlights

Light Fitting Installation in Warsaw — Chandeliers, Lamps and Spotlights — HandyMan24 Warsaw

You’ve bought a new chandelier, want spotlights in the hallway, or need a wall light in the bedroom — that means you need an electrician. Light installation includes securing the fitting to the ceiling or wall, wiring it in, and checking that everything works. It may look simple, but there are a lot of small points to get right: a heavy chandelier needs stronger fixings, recessed spots require accurate ceiling cut-outs, and a wall light needs the cable brought through the wall. In Mokotow and Zoliborz we often install lights in newly renovated flats — fresh ceilings, loose cables, just waiting to be connected.

Installation cost

The cost depends on the kind of fitting and how tricky it is to mount. A basic ceiling pendant on a hook is fast to install. A heavy chandelier on a bracket with fixings takes a bit more time. Recessed spots are priced according to quantity. The fitting is provided by the client. Up-to-date prices are shown in the table below.

What fittings we install

  • Ceiling chandeliers — hung on a hook or mounting plate.
  • Wall lights (sconces) — attached to the wall and wired to the outlet.
  • Recessed spotlights — cut into a suspended ceiling or plasterboard.
  • Surface-mount LED panels — fixed to the ceiling and connected.
  • Track systems — rail-mounted with adjustable heads.
  • Pendant lights — ceiling-mounted with adjustable drop height.

How the installation works

  1. We switch off the lighting circuit.
  2. We find the fixing point and scan the ceiling for rebar, pipes, and existing wiring.
  3. We install the mounting: hook, bracket, or cut an opening for a spot.
  4. We connect the cables: live, neutral, earth (if present). For multi-arm chandeliers we divide them across switch gangs.
  5. We fasten the fitting to the mounting.
  6. We turn the power back on and test every function.

Common mistakes

  • Mounting a heavy chandelier on plastic plugs — sooner or later it will come loose.
  • Skipping a ceiling scan before drilling — and hitting rebar or a cable.
  • Wiring without earth where it is required (bathroom).
  • Confusing wire groups — one switch gang turns on the wrong lamps.
  • Ignoring dimmer compatibility with LEDs — the light starts flickering.

Warning: light installation means working at height and working with electricity. A fixture that falls or faulty wiring can be dangerous. Don’t risk it — call a professional.

What to prepare

  • Buy the fitting and make sure it includes mounting hardware (plate, hook, screws).
  • Check that the cable outlet is in the right spot. If not, a new cable run will be necessary.
  • Clear the space under the ceiling — the technician will need room for a ladder.
  • If the chandelier has several lamp groups, say how you want them divided (2+3, 3+3, etc.).
  • If the ceiling is stretch, mention it — a different mounting method is required.

A real case from Warsaw

A client in Mokotow bought a large 8-arm chandelier weighing about 7 kg. The ceiling was concrete; the old hook was narrow and unsteady. We took out the old hook and installed a heavy-duty anchor bolt on two fixings. We connected the chandelier in two groups — 3+5 lamps on a double switch. We checked both modes and tightened each connection. The chandelier is firmly in place, and the light works exactly as it should. The job took about 40 minutes (compatible with Legrand, Schneider Electric, ABB and similar).

Frequently asked questions

Can a chandelier be hung on a stretch ceiling?

Yes, but a mounting platform needs to be installed before the ceiling is stretched. If the ceiling is already in place, the technician will check whether such a platform is there.

How long does installation take?

A simple pendant — 20–30 minutes. A chandelier with several groups — up to 45 minutes. Several spots — it depends on the number.

What if there are only two wires but the fitting has three?

Two wires mean live and neutral; the earth is missing. The fitting will work, but there will be no earth protection. Adding earth means running an extra cable.

Can a heavy chandelier go on a plasterboard ceiling?

Only on a mounting platform fixed to the structural ceiling above. If you attach it straight to plasterboard, it will pull out.

Does the technician bring fixings?

Standard fixings (plugs, hooks) are usually included in the kit. Special brackets and platforms — best to confirm beforehand.
