What sets Marburg apart
Marburg is a German wallpaper factory. Many of its collections are vinyl on non-woven backing, often deeply embossed or with metallic accents. With non-woven, the paste goes on the wall. For heavier papers the maker usually recommends a stronger paste, and the exact advice is on the roll label.
Embossed texture has its own rules. The relief crushes easily, so seams are not rolled hard with a stiff roller but pressed with a rubber seam roller or a soft brush. A flattened spot stays as a shiny stripe and never springs back.
Vinyl does not let moisture through well. In a bathroom without an extractor fan, or on a cold outside wall where damp collects, mould can start growing behind it. Check those spots first, and sometimes skip wallpaper there altogether.
Once the paper is up, leave the room alone. No draughts, and no radiator on full right next to fresh drops: paper that dries too fast shrinks unevenly. Pictures and shelves go back up only after the paste has fully dried.

What ruins the finish
- Paste that is too weak. The heavy drop slides down before it grabs and the seam opens.
- Rolling seams with a hard roller. The embossing flattens and a stripe shows.
- No primer on fresh filler. The paste sinks into the wall and the edges lift.
- A blunt blade. Thick paper tears, leaving ragged edges at the ceiling and skirting.
- Rolls from different batches on the same wall.
Getting ready
- Buy every roll from one batch, plus one spare.
- Check the wall for damp or mould and include any such spots in your photos.
- Move furniture and take down everything hanging on the walls.
- Decide about the old wallpaper: strip it yourself or add stripping to the job.
Around sockets and switches, the circuit is switched off at the fuse box before the plates come off. Wet paste and electricity do not get along.
Finding someone to hang it
Describe the walls, their area and the wallpaper type in the app, and add photos of the walls and the label. Tradespeople hanging wallpaper in Warsaw send bids with their own price and date. You choose one by price, rating and reviews, and only then do they see your number and address. You pay them directly.
Wallpaper, paste and primer are paid for on top of labour, as are rubbish removal and carrying materials in. Open seams and creases are on the tradesperson who hung the paper, and they fix them. Damp in the wall and mould underneath are not.
