How much a slatted wall with LED costs
The cost has three parts: materials (board or ready-made slats, aluminium profiles, LED strip, driver), fitting, and the electrics. Slats cut from board to size usually come out cheaper than ready-made panels, but the board has to be cut at a supplier such as VIYAR.

Fitting the slats is usually priced per square metre or for the whole wall. The strip and driver are separate items, and the tradesperson gives the exact total in the offer after seeing photos of the wall.

How the installation goes, step by step
- Measure the wall and set out the slats so sockets and switches fall between them, not on an edge.
- Cut the board into slats and rout grooves for the LED profiles.
- Prepare the power: a box for the driver somewhere you can reach, and a cable to the switch or controller.
- Fit the slats from the centre outwards, checking plumb every few slats.
- Glue in the profiles, strip and diffusers, connect the driver and test the light.
- Fit the bedside cabinets and shelves if they are part of the design.
In the bedroom shown below, the LED profiles run vertically in several places on the wall, and the same line of light continues onto the shelving by the bed, so the wall and furniture read as one piece.
Common mistakes
- The driver is sealed behind the slats. If it fails, the wall has to come apart.
- Sockets and switches land on the edge of a slat, so the back boxes have to move after fitting.
- LED strip without a diffuser profile. You see single diodes and the strip runs hotter.
- Slats started from a corner. A crooked corner carries across the whole wall.
How to prepare for the job
Photograph the whole wall with its sockets and switches and measure its width and height. Decide how the light will be switched: a normal switch, a remote or an app, as that decides the controller. If the slats continue onto furniture, attach a sketch or an inspiration photo.
Work on the 230 V driver is done by someone qualified for electrical work. Say in the request whether a cable is already brought out at the wall.

Frequently asked questions
Can slats go on plasterboard?
Yes, fixed to the studs or with plasterboard plugs. Heavy board slats are best glued and screwed as well.
How long does a slatted LED wall take?
The wall itself usually takes one to two days. Cutting at the supplier and delivery come before that.
Can the LED strip be replaced later?
Yes, if it sits in a profile with a diffuser. The diffuser comes off and the strip is swapped without touching the slats.
What light suits a bedroom?
Usually warm white, around 3000 K, on a dimmer. Cold light on the wall behind the bed is tiring in the evening.
