What the installation cost depends on
The labour price depends on the pergola size, the number of posts, the base (lawn, paving, timber decking) and whether it is wall-mounted or freestanding. Footings for the posts are a separate job: digging, formwork, concrete and anchors.
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Inspection and measurement | 200–300 zł/h |
| Handyman work - hourly rate | 250–300 zł/h |
Indicative prices. Ranges for a typical scope. Fixings included, materials separate. Minimum order 300 zł.
Pergola installation is usually priced for the whole job, after photos of the spot and the maker’s instructions. The pergola itself, concrete and anchors are bought by the client or agreed in the offer.

How the installation goes, step by step
- Mark out the post positions to the pergola’s dimensions and check for services in the ground.
- Dig and pour concrete footings with anchors, then leave the concrete to cure.
- Fix the posts on the anchors and check they are plumb.
- Fix the wall beam to the façade with anchors chosen for that wall.
- Assemble the roof frame and fit the louvres and mechanism (crank or motor).
- Connect the LED lighting in the frame and adjust the louvres.

Common mistakes
- Posts stood straight on paving or decking with no footing. The structure moves in the wind.
- Façade anchors chosen without checking what is under the render. Insulation will not hold the beam.
- No fall or outlet for water from the gutter in the frame, so it pours under the terrace door.
- Loading the posts before the concrete has cured.
How to prepare for the job
Have the pergola maker’s installation manual ready and photos of the spot: façade, terrace and ground. In a block of flats, agree fixing to the façade with the residents’ association or building manager first. If the pergola has lighting, say where the nearest outdoor socket or cable is.
Connecting the lighting to the 230 V supply is done by someone qualified for electrical work.
A real example: louvred pergola by a terrace
The pergola stands by the terrace of a ground-floor flat. The tradesperson poured footings for two posts in the garden, fixed the frame to the façade, assembled the roof with crank-operated louvres and connected the LED lighting in the frame.

Frequently asked questions
Can a pergola be fixed to the wall of a block of flats?
Yes, but in a block of flats you need consent from the residents’ association or manager, and the anchors are chosen for what is under the render.
Does a pergola need footings?
Posts on soil do. On a terrace with a concrete slab, posts can be bolted to the slab if it is thick enough.
How long does installation take?
Fitting the structure usually takes one to two days. Before that, the concrete in the footings needs time to cure.
Do the louvres keep the rain off?
Closed louvres on a bioclimatic pergola drain water into gutters in the frame. In wind-driven rain the open sides still let water in.
