What the price depends on
The rate is per mixer. What matters is the type: a plain single-lever mixer, a thermostatic one, or a shower set with a riser rail and overhead head that also has to be fixed to the wall. The state of the outlets counts as well. If the offset connectors have seized and the wall behind them is old, the job takes longer. Rates are in the table.
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Install shower mixer tap | 250–400 zł/szt |
Indicative prices. Ranges for a typical scope. Fixings included, materials separate. Minimum order 300 zł.
Fixings and thread sealing are usually included in the labour. The mixer, offset connectors, hand shower and hose, rail and cover plates are paid separately. If the outlets in the wall are crooked or leaking, reworking them is a separate job too.

Which mixer to choose
A single-lever mixer suits nearly everyone: simple and inexpensive. A thermostatic mixer holds the temperature when someone opens a tap in the kitchen, and you set the degrees on a dial. Handy with small children.
A shower set combines the mixer, a riser rail, a hand shower and an overhead head. It’s fixed to the wall, so what’s behind the tiles matters: in an older bathroom there may be a hollow, a pipe or a cable.
The standard spacing between outlets for an exposed mixer is 150 mm, and the offset connectors take up small deviations. By convention hot water comes in on the left. If yours is the other way round and the mixer is thermostatic, you need a reversed-inlet model or the outlets reworked.
Water and safety
Before the swap, the water is turned off, ideally for the whole flat, and the pressure released by opening the mixer. Old stopcocks in blocks of flats don’t always hold, so that’s checked before anything gets unscrewed. After fitting, the joints are checked under pressure, and on a thermostatic mixer the hot-water safety stop is tested.
How the job works
- The water is shut off, the old mixer removed and the wall outlets inspected.
- Old offset connectors come out, and new ones go in on fresh sealing, set level and at the right spacing.
- The cover plates go on and the mixer is screwed on with new washers.
- Hose, hand shower, holder or rail are fitted.
- The water goes back on, every joint and mode is checked, and the thermostat is set up per the instructions.
Common mistakes
- Offset connectors screwed in to different depths, so the mixer hangs at an angle.
- Nuts tightened without washers, or overtightened until the thread strips.
- Hot and cold swapped, and the thermostat won’t work.
- Drilling for the rail without checking the wall for pipes or cables.
- Old corroded connectors left in place, and a month later it drips behind the cover plate.
- A mixer bought without offset connectors when the wall outlets aren’t at the standard spacing.
What to prepare
- The new mixer and its instructions. Not bought yet? Send a photo of the outlets and the handyman can suggest a model.
- Photos of the old mixer and outlets. If you can, measure the distance between them.
- Where the water shuts off and whether that stopcock holds.
- An empty shower: take down shelves and bottles.
- For a shower set, decide what height the overhead head should be at.
Frequently asked questions
Can a thermostatic mixer replace an ordinary one?
Usually, yes, if the outlets are standard and hot is on the left. Check the thermostat’s instructions for the pressure and connection it needs.
Why does the mixer drip after replacement?
Most often it’s a washer or a nut tightened at an angle, and the handyman will redo their joint. If the spout itself drips, the cartridge may be faulty, which is a matter for the seller.
Should the offset connectors be replaced with the mixer?
If the old ones are corroded or leaking, yes. New mixers usually come with their own.
Can a shower set go on a plasterboard wall?
Yes, if there’s a backing board or stud behind the tiles to fix into. If there isn’t, you’ll need special cavity fixings, and it’s worth sorting that out with the handyman before you buy.
How to order
Describe in the app what you’re replacing and with what, and add photos of the outlets and the new mixer. Tradespeople near you will send offers with their own price and timing. Compare reviews and pick one; only that person sees your address.
You pay the handyman directly and they issue the invoice. They stand behind their own fitting: if one of their joints leaks or the mixer hangs crooked, they’ll fix it. Pipes in the wall, a faulty mixer and old outlets they didn’t replace are not on them.
