What the price depends on
Scaffolding hire is quoted individually. The price depends on the area (wall length times height), the type of system, the hire period and who puts it up. Delivery and collection come on top, and if the scaffold takes up the pavement, so does the permit. The table shows how the service is charged. The handyman gives the exact amount in the offer once they’ve seen photos and sizes.

| Scaffolding hire | Individual quote |
Indicative prices. Ranges for a typical scope. Fixings included, materials separate. Minimum order 300 zł.
Delivery, erection and dismantling, and any pavement fee may be separate lines. Ask for the offer to spell out what’s included and what isn’t, so nothing comes as a surprise.

Types of scaffolding
Frame scaffolding, the facade kind, is built from steel frames, braces and platforms along the whole wall. It’s the one for painting, rendering, insulation and any job where you need to walk the facade end to end. It’s tied into the wall with anchors.
A mobile tower stands on castors and is usually aluminium. It’s used for work in one spot or indoors: a high ceiling, a stairwell, lights in a large hall. Roll it over, lock the wheels, carry on.
If the job is an hour in one place and the scaffold would take half a day to deliver and put up, ask the handyman about other options. Sometimes a cherry picker makes more sense.
Safety and paperwork
People fall from scaffolding for simple reasons: missing guardrails, a loose platform, no ties to the wall, soft ground. That’s why facade scaffolding should be put up by someone with a scaffolder’s qualification (uprawnienia montera rusztowań in Poland). Ask in the offer whether the handyman has it. Before work starts, the scaffold is inspected and signed off in a handover record, and only then does anyone go up.
If the scaffold stands on a pavement or road, you need permission from the road authority to occupy that strip (zajęcie pasa drogowego). Who that is depends on the street; the municipal office (urząd gminy) can tell you. Does the wall face a neighbour’s plot? Agree it with them in advance. In a block of flats, facade work is agreed with the building administration or the owners’ association (wspólnota).
How hiring works
- You send photos of the wall, its length and height, and a note on the work planned.
- The handyman picks the type and number of bays and gives the hire period, price and terms for delivery and erection.
- On the day, the ground is checked: base plates go under the frames, and on soft ground the load is spread out.
- The scaffold is built, tied to the wall, and fitted with guardrails, toe boards and an access ladder.
- It’s inspected and signed off, and work can begin. At the end of the hire it’s taken down and removed.
Common mistakes
- Scaffolding ordered for the wall length, forgetting corners and bays, so there weren’t enough sections on the day.
- Frames set straight onto the lawn, and after rain one side sank.
- A hire period cut too fine, and then rain held up the painting.
- Moving a mobile tower with someone still on top.
- Guardrails taken off “because they’re in the way” and never put back.
- Remembering the pavement on delivery day, before any permit exists.
What to prepare
- Photos of the whole wall and the spot where the scaffold will stand.
- The facade length and height, even roughly, plus a list of the work.
- Clear access for the van and room to unload.
- Consent from the neighbour, administration or wspólnota if the scaffold goes onto someone else’s or shared land.
- Plant pots, garden furniture and the car moved away from the wall.
Frequently asked questions
What’s the shortest hire period?
It depends on who you hire from. Hire is usually counted in days or weeks, and the handyman states the minimum in the offer.
Can I put scaffolding up myself?
A mobile tower can be assembled yourself following the manufacturer’s instructions. Facade scaffolding is better left to a qualified scaffolder, because how it’s built decides how safe everyone working on it will be.
Do I need a permit for scaffolding at a private house?
If it stands on your own plot, there’s usually no separate permit. You need one when it takes up the pavement or road, which is the zajęcie pasa drogowego procedure.
What if the work runs over?
Hire can normally be extended. Let the handyman know in good time so the scaffold isn’t collected on schedule.
How to order
Describe the wall in the app, with its size and when the work will happen, and add photos. Tradespeople near you will send offers with their own price and hire terms. Compare them by reviews and pick one; only that person sees your address.
You pay the handyman directly and they issue the invoice. They stand behind their part: if the scaffold they put up wobbles or is missing guardrails, they’ll put it right. Other people’s work on the scaffold and the state of the wall it’s tied to are not on them.
Hire out scaffolding or put it up with the right qualifications? Create a tradesperson profile and get scaffolding requests from your own area. You work for yourself and decide what form your business takes.
