Washing Machine Bearing Replacement in Warsaw

Washer rumbling loudly on spin, rusty water leaking from the drum, or drum wobbling when pushed by hand? Bearings support the drum shaft. When the seal wears, water reaches the bearings — they corrode and disintegrate. This is one of the most involved washer repairs, requiring full tub removal. We do it on site across Warsaw.

Cost

Complex job, 2–4 hours. Prices in the table. Bearings + seal charged separately. Always replaced as a set.

How it works

  1. You describe — rumbling on spin, rusty water, drum play.
  2. Full disassembly: top, panels, counterweights, tub extraction.
  3. Split tub (or cut non-split type).
  4. Press out old bearings, remove seal.
  5. Press in new bearings, fit new seal with grease.
  6. Reassemble tub and machine.
  7. Test at 1400 rpm — quiet, no play, no leaks.

Mistakes

  • Replacing bearings without the seal — water returns, new bearings rust in months.
  • Washing with wrecked bearings — shaft can cut through the tub.
  • Confusing with a foreign object rattling.
  • Not checking the spider/cross — if cracked, bearing replacement is pointless.
  • DIY with a hammer — damages the housing.

Preparation

  • Washer model.
  • Describe: rumbling, rusty water, wobble.
  • Disconnect from mains and water.
  • LOTS of space — full disassembly.
  • Sheet or old blanket on floor.
  • Photo of model.
  • Allow 3–4 hours.
  • Built-in? Must be pulled out.

Case from Warsaw

Client in Mokotów: Bosch, 7 years — sounded like a jet on spin, rusty water on the floor. Inner bearing disintegrated, seal long gone. Spider intact (lucky). Replaced bearing set + seal. Test at 1400 — silence. 3 hours. Tip: if you get rumbling and rust stains, don’t delay — once the shaft cuts through the tub, it’s a much bigger repair.

FAQ

What do bearings do?

Support the drum shaft rotation. Two bearings — inner (large) and outer (small).

How to tell?

Rumbling on spin, rusty water, drum wobble by hand.

Keep washing?

No — shaft can cut through the tub.

Why replace the seal?

It keeps water off the bearings. Without it, new bearings rust again.

2–4 hours.

Brands?

Bosch, Samsung, LG, Electrolux, Beko, Whirlpool, Indesit.

Replace or buy new?

If under 8 years, bearing replacement is cheaper.
