What has to be ready for a bidet
Roca is a Spanish ceramics maker, and its bidets are often sold alongside toilets from the same series, floor-standing or wall-hung. In practice a bidet is a small basin: it has a tap, a waste, a trap and two water supplies. So the wall needs two angle valves, hot and cold, plus a waste outlet at the right height.
A floor-standing bidet is fixed to the floor with the supplies coming out of the wall behind it. A wall-hung bidet hangs on its own concealed frame, not the toilet frame, though often from the same family. The frame goes in before the wall is boarded, just like with a toilet.
The bidet tap is bought separately. Check that it fits the hole in the ceramic and whether it comes with a pop-up waste, because not every model does.
Think in advance about where the towel will hang and where the soap will sit. A small thing, but a hook added later means another hole in finished tiles.
What it costs and how to book: tap replacement in Warsaw.
Repair instead of replacement
A dripping tap, a leaking trap or a waste that won’t hold water are usually quick fixes. The tap cartridge, the washers or the whole trap get replaced. The ceramic only needs changing if it’s cracked or you’re rebuilding the bathroom.
Typical mistakes
- Only cold water run to the bidet. It works, but nobody will use it.
- A toilet frame used for the bidet, so neither the bolts nor the waste line up.
- A bidet placed too close to the toilet or the wall, which makes it awkward to sit on.
- Tap hoses stretched tight because the valves are too far away.
- A trap fitted without washers, dripping behind the bidet where nobody looks for months.
Preparation
- Check that there are two valves and a waste outlet in the wall.
- Buy a tap, waste and trap that suit the model.
- Plan the spot with some room on either side.
- Photograph the wall, the supplies and the ceramic.
Both hot and cold water are turned off before the tap is connected.
Booking through the app
Say in the app whether it’s an install or a repair, what bidet it is and what supplies are in the wall. Add photos so a tradesperson can size up the job before coming. Fitters in Warsaw send bids with their own price and date, and you pick one by price, ratings and reviews. The phone number and address are shared only after you choose.
You pay the fitter directly and he issues the invoice. Fixings are usually included. The tap, trap, frame, a hot water run, taking the old ceramic away and carrying materials in are extra. Whoever fitted it answers for his own work and redoes it if it leaks. Old pipes in the wall and someone else’s earlier work are not on him.
