Assembly first, ceiling second
With many Eglo lights, most of the time goes in before anyone climbs a ladder. Arms, lamp holders, shades, the ceiling canopy: it all goes together following the drawings in the instructions. Much easier on a table than holding half a lamp over your head.
Pendants have an adjustable drop. The length of the cable or suspension wire is usually set once, during fitting, so decide in advance how high the shade should hang. Over a dining table it’s one height. In the middle of a room it’s another, because a tall visitor shouldn’t hit it with their head.
Glass shades weigh more than you’d think. A fitting with three to five of them needs to be fixed into the ceiling slab, not only into plasterboard. Spotlight bars are lighter, but they have to go up dead straight, because any tilt shows in how the light falls.
For a bathroom, choose only fittings with a suitable IP rating. It’s printed on the box and in the product description.

Mistakes worth skipping
- Hanging the light without checking whether the ceiling is concrete, hollow block or plasterboard. That decides which fixings will hold.
- A drop that’s too short over the table or too long in a walkway. Fixing it means taking things apart again.
- Forcing the wires in under the canopy. Pinched insulation is a short circuit waiting to happen.
- Bulbs stronger than the lamp holder allows. The maximum is marked on the fitting and in the instructions.
Your part of the prep
- Check the parts list in the instructions against what’s in the box.
- Buy bulbs with the right base if none are included.
- Measure the ceiling height and decide where the light should hang.
- Photograph the ceiling wires and the wall switch.
From photo to finished fitting
- Post the job in the app: the model, number of shades, ceiling type and photos. If the light isn’t assembled yet, say so.
- Tradespeople in Warsaw send offers, each with their own price. Check ratings, reviews and whether the profile shows verified electrical permits.
- Once you choose, the electrician gets your phone number and address. You pay him directly, and the invoice comes from him.
Plugs and screws are usually in the price. The lamp and bulbs are yours to buy, and taking away the boxes is extra. Whoever fitted the light answers for that fitting and redoes it if needed. The ceiling slab and old wiring are not his responsibility.
Wires get connected only with the breaker off and a tester showing no voltage.
