What to look at in a Vidos kit
Vidos is a Polish brand of audio and video intercoms, and its kits are easy to find in DIY stores. For a house it’s usually a set: a camera panel at the gate, a monitor inside and a power supply. A block of flats is different, since the system is shared and new equipment has to match it.
The outdoor panel goes on a fence post or on the wall by the door. A metal post needs a solid bracket and a proper cable entry, so water doesn’t run inside along the wire.
The gate is opened by either an electric strike or an electromagnetic lock. They work in opposite ways: a strike releases when it gets current, a magnet holds as long as current flows. That matters during a power cut and when choosing the power supply, so ask the tradesperson which one suits your gate.
Some kits let you add a second monitor, say upstairs. Check the manual for your model to see how many units it supports before planning cables to every room.

What spoils the result
- The gate cable buried without a duct. The ground shifts, the wire chafes, the picture starts to flicker.
- A panel with no hood on the weather side. Water in the button is the usual cause of phantom rings.
- A magnetic lock on a supply with no power to spare. The gate holds weakly, or not at all.
- A monitor on the wall facing a window. In the morning you can’t see a thing on it.
- An old wire reused without testing. One broken core, and hunting the fault takes longer than the fitting.
Before work starts
- Photograph the gate, the post, the monitor spot and the old intercom.
- Check whether the gate already has a strike and whether it works.
- Roughly measure the distance from the house to the gate.
- Find the kit’s manual, or photograph the box with the model name on it.
From request to fitting
In the app you write what’s needed: a new kit, a replacement, or just the gate strike. Add photos so a tradesperson can size up the job before coming out. Bids come from tradespeople who take this work in Warsaw, each with his own price and date.
- You compare prices, ratings and reviews and pick one.
- The phone number and address appear only after you choose; before that there’s the chat.
- You pay him directly, and he issues the invoice.
Small fixings are usually part of the labour. The kit, cable, duct and rubbish removal are extra. Whoever did the connection answers for it and redoes his own fitting. A crooked post, old wires in the wall or other people’s alterations are not on him.
The power supply connects to the 230 V mains. For that part of the job, pick someone whose electrical qualifications are confirmed in his profile.
