What matters with Voster doors
Voster is a Polish maker of interior doors, with rebated and flush leaves, solid and glazed, in different finishes. For the fitter, though, the key question is which frame came in the box. A fixed frame has one depth and suits a wall of a set thickness. An adjustable frame wraps the wall on both sides and forgives more, but it has to be set dead plumb, or the gaps around the leaf come out uneven.
Sliding doors are a separate job. The wall needs room for the open leaf and a solid base for the track. On plasterboard, the track has to be anchored into a stud or extra backing.

Where gaps and rubbing come from
- Frame set without a level. A month later the door swings open on its own or rubs at the top.
- Too much expanding foam and no spreaders. The foam swells and bows the sides of the frame inwards.
- Opening measured by eye before buying. The door is too wide, or the gap at the wall is too big for the architrave to hide.
- Doors fitted before the floor, with no allowance for it. Then the leaf scrapes the new boards.
Squeaky hinges and a loose handle are usually a matter of adjustment, not a new door.
So when is replacement worth it? If the leaf is straight and the frame sits firmly in the wall, moving the hinges and the strike plate is usually enough. A cracked or loose frame, or a warped leaf, won’t hold up to patching for long.
Older blocks often have a steel frame built into the wall. Cutting it out is a separate, messy job, so mention it in the order.
Before anyone comes
- Measure the width, height and wall thickness at the opening, in a few places.
- Check whether the floor there is finished.
- Unpack one door and look for transport damage.
- Clear the way to the opening.
Booking it in the app
Describe the job, add a photo of the opening and the boxed doors, and say how many there are. Fitters send offers with their own price, and you choose by price and reviews. Only the person you pick sees your contact details and address. You pay them directly and they issue the invoice.
Screws and plugs are usually included. Foam, architraves, handles and taking the old doors away are extra, so note in the order what you already have.
