What to know about A.S. Création
A.S. Création is a German wallpaper factory with a wide choice of patterns and textures, in both non-woven and paper-backed versions. The backing decides the method: non-woven goes onto a pasted wall, paper gets soaked with paste first.
Read the roll label. The symbols show how to apply paste, how the paper copes with washing and how it comes off later. You will also find the batch number and pattern repeat there. The batch number must match on every roll, or you get stripes of slightly different shade.
Non-woven barely shrinks as it dries, so the drops are butted tightly together. Paper swells with paste and then shrinks back; stretch it while hanging and a gap opens at the seam.
Corners are their own story. The paper is not wrapped fully onto the next wall; it is trimmed with a small overlap, and the next drop starts from a fresh plumb line. The pattern may miss slightly right in the corner, but the rest of the wall stays straight.

Where it usually goes wrong
- Hanging on an unprimed wall. Porous filler steals the paste and the edges lift.
- Mixing paste off-instruction, or grabbing an all-purpose one at random.
- Pulling the paper to line up the pattern. Once dry it relaxes, and the seam opens.
- No plumb line for the first drop. The whole pattern then drifts diagonally.
- Throwing the windows wide open right after hanging. A draught dries it unevenly and the edges peel.
Before the tradesperson turns up
- Check all rolls share one batch number, and keep one or two spare.
- Decide who strips the old paper. If it is the tradesperson, put it in the job.
- Clear the walls of furniture, pictures and shelves.
- Photograph the walls in daylight.
Around sockets and switches, the circuit for that room gets switched off at the fuse box first. Wet paste and electricity are a bad pair.

Wallpaper, paste and primer are paid for separately from labour, as are rubbish removal and carrying materials in. Whoever hung the paper answers for seams and bubbles and redoes their own work. Damp walls and old crumbling plaster fall outside that.
